Sorry i didn't reply sooner. Was away for a month and been trying to do as much of this on my own as I can, but I'm now starting to struggle. I feel bad about asking, and if you're too busy then that's fine, but any help would be appreciated. As I mentioned before I've been looking into Indigenous Brazilians emigrating to the big cities. I've researched different areas and I'd like to specialise on one in particular, but apart from searching ' índios na cidade de sao paulo' or something like that i've found it hard. There are lots of PDF but i'm not finding many books. I want to look at how indigenous people still maintain their culture when living in cities but if I look at one group of people like the Kaingang, for example, I think that would make more sense. My other idea is examining changing views to education in particular regions (indigenous education) but i think this may be too difficult. Again, sorry to bother you and if this is too much of a hassle then don't worry about it but i thought i'd ask. Any advice would be really useful!!!

Separately how is everything? Still working for your parents and how is your new(ish) dog? I hope life is treating you well!! Been a long time since we communicated. Atéé!

Hey, yeah we did go to Mexico in the end. It was great!! Fantastic for anyone like me who's interesting in history/archaeology and anthropology. We went from Mexico City to Cancun close to the Guatemalan border. Food was a bit hit and miss but in general i'd highly recommend Mexico. I'm off again in 2 weeks actually. My first time going abroad on my own. I'm meeting my friend in Thailiand then on to Cambodia for 3 weeks. Should bbe fun!!
Yeah it's been a bit mad here recently. Last week rioting began and people (kids) thought they'd get away with it so it spread to several big cities. There was a big clamp down and something like 2000 were arrested and now everything seems to be back to normal. It wasn't really violent (except the 3 men killed by a car) just a lot of kids robbing shops because their friends were doing it. This pretty much sums up the riots http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_I5qggUEms
Hope you are well! How are things? I noticed you read the Dark Materials. They were one of my favourites when i was about 12 and still remain one of my favourite series. I've been reading Don Quixote and now soo close to the end. Btw for my university i am going to be writing about Brazilian culture. Would it be ok if i can ask you some stuff it's just i'm not quite sure how to find information. If you are busy that's fine but i thought i;d ask. I'm thinking about doing Indigenous Brazilians moving to the cities but i'm a bit stuck finding stuff. Ok i'll shut up now as i've waffled long enough. Nice to hear from you!

Your own place would be great! I'm living with two other guys and they really wind me up some times. Our house really isn't that great! haha I know how that feels, my mum is always trying to find out if i'm dating someone and she knows the inevitable answer!! Yeah i was a bit down but i do feel a lot better. I have days when i feel terrible but in general not so much now. I have a presentation on monday that is being assessed so feeling a bit stressed about that but once it's over i can start thinking about our trip to Mexico. I need to get a job too but so far i've not done much about that haha. The main thing in life right now is trying to do the best for my degree but i'm also happily wasting money on the cinema. I think i've been 10 times already this year :S

Oh my sister has her birthday on the 19th of january too so we'll both be celebrating in the next few weeks! I'm going to be 22 in April, it's a scary thought i know getting older! I hope you have a great day though to make you forget about all that!
Christmas was fun. I got plenty of weird things as normal; mead among others :S We all were suffering with flu but apart from that i had a good time, and like you can add to my reading list with a few things. In fact i don't think i've ever read more than i've been reading the last few weeks! I've started Vidas Secas by the way. Have you read that?
What made you choose to study French? I've still got to work harder at portuguese!!!!! I still can't say anything!!

Oh I'm good. I was treated with depression about 2 months ago and still getting treatment but everything seems fine at the moment. I've got a trip to Mexico in April so i've got something to look forward to and i need to get some money together for another trip to Japan in the Summer. Still don't particularly like being at University but i'm making the most of it. Haven't messaged for aaages! How's work and life going? You had the chance to sing anywhere recently? I've written quite a lot so should prob cale a boca! Hope this finds you happy and well :D

You would be right then haha I'm really struggling with Dostoevsky now! I want to give up!

About a boy was a great film, considering Hugh Grant was in it. I didn't know it was based on a book though. I wonder now if he is a famous author here or i just know nothing as I've really never heard of him!

I like philosophy too but I'm not sure I'm good at wording it, so i prefere to read it then discuss it as i sound like i know nothing haha. I just read a book by the guy who did Of mice and men and it was really philisophical and i loved it!! It's called East of Eden...

Oh and btw you NEVER want to hear me sing!!! plus i never sing anyway but i don't want to hurt people's ears.... I think it's much better you do karaoke than me!!!

I know! It's been a long time! Oh i went close to Scotland, not quite. It's been quite hectic since then. I now have a girlfriend and just got back from train travel around Italy, Switzerland and France. I went with my family and we stopped in Zurich and Venice. The trip near Scotland was good too except i was getting panic attacks so had to go to hospital. Everything's ok now tho... How's everything with you? What have you been up to?

I don't think she cheated on him, but i don't think the point of the book is whether or not. It's written with short sentences and chapters that mention his absentmindedness, switching back and forth between time periods. I think the reader mustn't forget that they're getting the only point of view of Bentinho and him alone. I also think that part of his obsession over Ezekiel's paternity is the guilt over his adulterous thoughts about Sancha just before Escobar's death... It's also as much a book on the changing of Brazilian society. You have the slave history of the family, the religious nature of the family, etc represented in all members of the family, as well as referring to key events throughout and the comparisons to Dom Pedro. It's obviously a very complex book and i seem to be reading more and more books like this. If you like this then you might enjoy books by the famous Russian Dostoevsky. Oh and sorry to ramble, I'm sure you're not interested in my views on this book..

I don't know Nick Hornby, what books has he written? I'm sure i'll read Austen one day but i've always had the view i'd not like it so never given them a go. Maybe i'd be wrong... I'm reading the brothers Karamazov by Dostoevsky and East of Eden by John Steinbeck at the moment. I think i'm giving Moby Dick a break for a bit. I wasn't enjoying it much! Nice to hear from you :D I guess i should shut up!

hahaha Just need to get the hat now to complete the look! Oh god Well I hope you've recovered and are Ok now. I know how you feel though because I've always suffered with anxiety and normally get it for really stupid things, like getting my hair cut :S I've had panic attacks too so I know how far these things can go. Well Spain won the World Cup, I some how doubt you watched it and if you didn't then good decision as it was really bad. Boring final!!! Well as i write this I can feel the nerves starting for my trip on wednesday. If I don't hear from you before I leave then have a good Summer and get better soon :D

Well i was wrong. Bye bye Brazil see you in 4 years!
Hmm weird, I haven't actually finished Dom Casmurro yet, I've still got about 30 pages left. I don't remember setting it to read but Shelfari seems to do as it pleases. I can't say I've loved it though, it's been a real slog to get through. I've been reading it on and off for the last 6 months but it's the language that has made it so difficult. When i eventually complete it I can imagine the satisfaction I will feel!!
I agree with you on the Alice film. No special effects alone can make a film if the plot itself is a bit shoddy!! Anxiety?? That's not good!! Does that mean you are still working with your parents then? Well hopefully Jane Austin can settle those bad thoughts :D although as a typical guy I'm not sure I could brace myself for the long read that is Pride and Prejudice (shivers!!!) :P
I'm going to be stressing soon as it happens. In roughly 2 weeks I'm bound for a 3 week archaeological dig up towards Scotland. Not quite sure if I'm dreading it or whether it should be fun. I guess I shall find out :S ....
    Have a good weekend!!

    Quanto tempo!!
Yep, pretty much all the games. I know that i need to get out more when even I am getting bored of so much football! Ah well even if we had got that second goal we wouldn't have deserved to win, the Germans were far better than us. Plus i don't like most of our players so i wasn't that sad. Your country seems to be going well, even if like England i don't like many of the players much. I would not be surprised if you guys won this year.
Nah barely reading these days. It may have something to do with the fact I am reading the dullest book I've read in a long time..... the scourge that is Moby Dick!! I would NOT recommend it 200 pages in so far! So how are you?? Can't remember the last time i spoke to you, keeping yourself busy? I never did hear your opinion on that Tim Burton film, Alice..... ;)

Thanks anyway for the wellwishing and i hope you liked Alice, although part of me doesn't as i thought it was terrible :D
