Dear Gin: I am an author from Massachusetts. My debut novel, HUNTING THE KING, was published last year after years of rejection slips. If you enjoy page turning thrillers, HUNTING will take you on quite a ride. ForeWord Magazine said, “Given such an auspicious start, the sequel can’t come soon enough.” The novel features Molly O’Dwyer. When Molly was five years old, she witnessed her mother die in a fire Molly believes she started. She never knew her father, so her own past is shrouded in mystery. After her mother’s death, she is raised on the campus of a Jesuit college in Boston. Now many years later, an archaeologist, she is recruited to participate in a dig in war torn Iraq. The passionate scientist in her is compelled to uncover whatever is buried under the sands of ancient Babylon. The observant Catholic in her is scared that what she finds may have profound consequences for her faith. There is a heart-pounding YouTube book trailer for HUNTING THE KING, which will give you a good sense of the pace and theme of the novel. I hope you’ll take a look and let me know what you think.

Sorry the reply took so long. I went on holidays and have been gone. Headed down to Orlando and then Miami. Gloriously warm weather, we came home to a fluke snow storm. *shivers* I'm still trying to acclimatize myself to the blowing snow and chill. Vacation was fantastic, got not as much reading as I'd like but I did start Robert's Circle of One Trilogy, which I'm excited about.

That's really exciting that you're getting offered to do up these reviews! I'm really happy for you, plus you get to see the good before hand! That's always a plus. Are you posting the reviews on your site or does she want it posted on a specific site as well?

My hubster isn't into Broadway either, I went with my Dad. I do think I could lure Lee (husband) to see one if I can ever drag him down to NYC first. He doesn't mind the dinner theaters on occasion, so who knows. *grins*

I got the book the Christmas after I'd been to NY and saw Wicked on Broadway. So, that book will always hold a special place in my heart. Was one of my all-time favorite trips.

I read the first book and wasn't a huge fan but I'll probably check out the second book in the series at some point. Have to get through a few other series I'm addicted to first though. *grins* That's awesome! Congratulations! Are they getting you to do reviews as well?

Been excellent. Ava, my 9 month old daughter, has been keeping me a bit busy lately. She's climbing stairs and pulling herself to grab anything her baby blues' spot. You know how it is, so I haven't been able to read as much. She seems to think when I sit on the floor in her play-room that I am her own personal jungle gym and thus should be climbed all over.

We are heading to Florida here shortly and that'll be fun. Going to go to Orlando and then hit Miami. Getta see some of the places that Graham is always writing about. *smirks*

    Hey,

How are you enjoying Wicked thus far? I loved that book.

So, I was perusing your Plan to Read shelf and you had a Lisa Gardner up there so I decided to pick up Say Good-bye and try her out. Bwah! An intense author. Have you enjoyed her books? I'm looking forward to starting her books from the first and working my way through. So thanks for the new author I can add to my must read list.

    Hope things are going well.

That bit I said about Death Angel is in the synopsis. No worries my lips are sealed. That brings an interesting topic at hand though. Do you consider the synopsis spoiler-esque? It does give tid-bits of the plot and I suppose one could argue that it's spoiler-y.

Gotta hate when characters don't stay focused but run rampant with their own ideas. The worst is when you've got a gem of an idea but none of them want to fall in line and allow it to play out.

Na No is National Novel Writing Month and it's in November. You can find more out by going here: http://www.nanowrimo.org/ Like I said, I've never participated because I can never get my muse to focus, though it's always tempting to try it out, just to see. A lot of my online friends have tried it and loved it, has helped getting more pieces written that they can try to get published and when you've got a network of people writing you can't help but be encouraged.

Yeah, he does get some lines and whether you love or hate them it does evoke some sort of response.

Did you watch CSI Vegas last week? That was kinda creepy. Cast seems so empty and lonely without Warrick and Sara. Makes me want to bust out the pilot.

    Do your kids enjoy reading?

I've added you on my MSN contact list.

For all the years that I've been using the library I've only had one issue and it happened about a month ago. I returned a book and they missed scanning it back into the system. I usually check my account after I've returned my books (not every time but more often then not) and I noticed that it was saying I had a book out when I'd already returned it. I called my branch told them, she went and checked and found it on the shelf. Scanned it through and that was that. Seemed pretty harsh on your situation though. That's my one fear with the library, which is why I got into the habit of checking my account after returning my books. Now I keep to buying the books I know I could re-read over and over again, which is why a lot of my books are Nora Roberts or biographies. I know you aren't a fan, as per your profile, but if it's a good biography I love. Johnny Cash is my favorite one. Gods, I love him.

I cannot wait till you get the Bishop Series by Kay Hooper. I think you'll like. Very paranormal and... I dunno there's just so many books to the series that it's just a lot of fun to read. It's like when I first discovered Nora Roberts, I was so bummed when I finished reading the list of books (strong romance/suspense) my girlfriend gave me. You just get into the style of the author and every book is like a friend that you've known for a while.

CSI: Miami, I like the rest of the cast, just Horatio bothers me so immensely that I cannot stand to watch it. My father-in-law loves the Miami one and we tease each other about it. I mock Horatio chasing after a perp with his shades on. In fact, Lee and I went to a dinner theater a few months back and it was a CSI themed one. The spoof of CSI Miami's Horatio was priceless. It was the funniest part of the show. He donned the glasses and would spurt out a cheesy/cliche that Horatio would and then theme music would play a few cords and he'd do this air guitar thing. Okay... maybe it's only fun if you've seen the show. *grins*

All my original stuff is short. Not a lot of time for the characters to really develop, and that's usually because I'm my own worst enemy and think all my original stuff is garbage, which is also why I've never done NaNo. Have you? Plus I focus more on TV novel tie-ins. Right now, I'm sussing out a plot for a script I'd like to send it. The likeliness of the producers liking it is slim as I've got no credentials and I'm not arrogant enough to think that I pwn all but it's something I've always wanted to do and since I'm not getting any younger I figured I should just do it. Worse case is they don't use it, but at least I tried. *grins* Is the character you're having issues with the lead female? Is there some way you can bring in another and have her killed? Near death experiences can cause a serious attitude change. It worked for Linda Howard's "Death Angel" and played off smoothly.

I was just reading your info at the link you gave me and I laughed, in a good way. About three years ago I decided that I should renew my library card and got book addicted once again. I'd always loved reading but I was now taking out 6-8 books at a time, something I hadn't done in a really long time. Then about a year ago I got un-plugged from my reading. Renovations were going on in our place and then I got pregnant and there were a million things I'd rather do then read. But once Ava (my 6 month old) came around I found it boring to just sit there and watch TV while I was nursing so I got back into my library love. Then... (yes, a rather long tale) an online friend pointed me out to the goodness that is Shelfari and I'm so glad. I love finding other book lovers and discovering new authors to dive into. If it weren't for stumbling across your page I wouldn't have picked up J.D. Robb's series (just waiting for it to come to my library). So thanks for that rec, your reviews won me over.

Yes, definitely pick up the whole series. Do you get most of your books from Chapters or do you hit up the used book stores? I just finished Hooper's "Sense of Evil" and I'm going to start reading Roberts' "Homeport". I was always led to believe that not all of Roberts stuff is romance/suspense. That some of it is just straight romance, is that true or Guru of Nora Roberts?

Woo hoo another CSI lover. Please tell me you don't like CSI: Miami. *fingers crossed* I can't stand the Miami version. Horatio causes me to have white flashes of violence. But I adore Vegas and NY and when I was in NY a few years back I saw them filming a scene and the guard was kind enough to let me get a bit closer for a peek. I tried Bones out the first season but I couldn't stand Temperance and while I have a love for David Boreanaz I just couldn't stomach how clueless Temperance was. I haven't read anything by Kathy but she's on my list and I'll eventually get to her. *grins*

A fellow writer? *high fives* We should swap YIM/AIM/MSN addresses and chat online. I'll send you a private message with my contact info.

Glad you accepted! I like knowing why people like or dislike books. Reader reviews often mean more to me then critic reviews, especially when you find readers that are into the same genres that you are.

I was watching So You Think You Can Dance Canada last night and one of Gene's students was a guest judge. Made my night. Plus it was the same guy that choreographed Dirty Dancing. I also happen to love that movie. "Nobody puts Baby in the corner..." I love the classics, and they always make me smile and happy.

You rock! White Christmas is a movie I must watch every year, at (you guessed it) Christmas. It's a ritual that my hubby doesn't fully understand nor appreciate. But what can ya do?

What author are you currently hooked on? At the moment I'm just wrapping up the last books in Kay Hooper's Noah Bishop SCU series, before her new one comes out. If you like paranormal thrillers with a splash of romance you should pick them up. Though, I recommend starting from the first book. You don't need to read them in order but previous characters do get mentioned and their pasts revealed so it's nice to know their history. I'm addicted to the series. They may be one I have to purchases because I could re-read them again.
