Clara, we have read many many of the same books.Have you read everything by Mary Morrison? Or anything by Quentin Carter....Hoodwinked and In Cahootz is well worth the read. I have read alot of Zane the latest being the Hot Box. Never read anything by Kwan.Love nikki Turner and LaJill Hunt as well as Eric Jerome Dickey,Omar Tyree and of course RM Johnson and all of E Lynn Harris. I embrace it all my sister....as long as its a page turner! smiles
I mostly read whatever catches my attention. I just don't like alot of hard core Gangsta Lit or Over the top Erotica. I do read Urban Fiction...love Nikki Turner,Tu-Shonda Whitaker,Treasure E Blue etc. I love Contemporary and Mainstream. I read Bios and enjoy Christian fiction and overall good romance. I have to admit that the Romance is new to me...I'm just starting out with suggestions from a shelfari friend. My Faves so far this last year are:
Wildflowers by Lyan Beth LeFlore
Personal History of Rachel Dupree by Ann Weisgarber
Sacred Place, Perfect Peace by Daniel Black
Jump at The Sun by Kim Mclarin
Angel of Harlem by Kuwana Haulsey
The Refiner's Trilogy by Lynn Austin
BeBe Moore Campbell Your Blues Ain't like Mine,What You Owe Me
Pearl Cleage All of them
Vanessa Miller Rain and Storm and Forgiven series
Salem Falls,Sing You Home and My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult
Lutushia Lovely's series

Hey Clara. Just wanted to drop by to say hello. I haven't been on here much lately. What have you been reading lately? I'm getting reading for summer reading with Sister Souljah's latest, Mama Ruby by Mary Monroe and Mary B Morrison has a new one hitting the shelves in July. Then there is plenty to read from my TBR pile...LOL. Take care and chat with you soon.
Hello my sista. Hope all is well with you. I have been under the weather lately and do not have the energy to sit at the computer very long. Just wanted to check in. I told my step mother about The Choir Director - I got it off your shelf, she is going to read it, I will probably get it soon too. I'm facing surgery soon - total hip replacement so I'm taking it easy these days. Happy Reading.
Hi Clara. Thanks for adding me to your circle of friends. I spend a small fortune in books girl. But that's one habit I'm not willing to break....LOL. Welcome to Shelfari and I hope you find some leads on some great reads...LOL. Take care and have a good weekend.
Lol - well, enjoy! There is certainly enough to read especially on my blog where you can sign up to be a follower as well as sign up to be a member of my website...shameless plug :)
Share it with your friends and who knows, maybe one day I'll have book signing in Canada. Take care!
I'm surprised that they don't come to Canada when they have fans all over the world. Well, hopefully they will one of these days. I had a very busy week and over the weekend I attended the 2011 Maryland Writers Conference which is a yearly event for writers and anyone interested in writing. You can visiit my blog at www.vocalexpressions.blogspot.com for more details.
Anyway, are you on FB? If you are, send me a friend request and you can always "like" my page, The Write Pen, when you get a chance.
That's all for now. Have a wonderful week as well!
Absolutely! I have all of his books and I met him when he came to Maryland for a book signing a few years ago. He's signed the majority of my books and I've taken pictures with him as well. When I get some time, I'll have to post some of them on my website. Anyway, have a fantastic weekend!
Thank you my sista. Welcome. I love this site. The only problem is that I can get started playing around on shelfari and stay on line longer than I should when I know should discipline myself more, log off and read my books. I read ANYTHING. I have a very open mind. As a member of the African American books and authors group, I saw mention of the book The Choir Director by Carl Weber. Have you read that? Stay Blessed, and Happy Reading!
