“I was somehow under the impression that this was an easier read than its predecessor, Wolf Hall. Not so: just as slow moving, with prose just as intricately crafted. After winding leisurely through the rise and fall of Anne Boleyn, the ending seemed surprisingly rushed, as if the author had little interest in that well-known part of Boleyn's story. A worthy read, but not easy or entirely satisfying. ”
