Bonjour. Je m'appelle Kat.
I do a lot of reading... more than my paycheck should really allow, most of the time. But I hoard books like old ladies hoard cats in the hopes of one day attaining a library like the Beast had in Disney's The Beauty and the Beast. Yes, that's some mighty high dreaming, but dude, I read. I've got the proper imagination for it.
Anyway, though I am almost 21 years of age, most of what I read consists of kids and young adult books, generally leaning toward science fiction/fantasy. I try to dabble in other genres and other audience ranges, but I keep straying back to the kids section. What can I say? It's a refridgerator and I'm a magnet... fight as I may, I can't escape its pull.
I used to work at Borders in the kids section for about a year before having to quit for a better paying job, but I still frequent my old haunting ground often. I'm secretly a recruited reader for my old supervisor who likes getting my opinion on new and popular books so she knows what to recommend. And, on occasion, one might find me organizing shelves or making an offhand recommendation to a parent in need all while hiding from my evil ex-manager.
Ergo, I like making long and semi-detailed reviews and whatnot. But, as a result, I have yet to find a child between the ages of 9 and 12 that has not walked out of my section with a book they grow to love. I've since considered it a challenge to find a kid that dares to defy my literary prowess by walking away empty handed.
That being said...
...yeah. I'm done.
If anyone ever feels like getting their ear talked off their heads on the subject of any book you see in my shelf or feel like recommending, by all means, drop on by. But keep in mind, you have been warned.
