Gashlycrumb

I have been a bookaholic for as long as I can remember. I have books in almost every room of the house and have been known to stay up all hours of the night and call in sick to work just to finish a book.

I am an avid reader of mostly sci-fi, fantasy and horror, but am open to anything that is well written.

I also enjoy...more »

Hey, Gashly! Thank you so much for recommending "The God Eaters". It was an amazing story! Who knew you could throw magic, mysticism, religion and politics into a pseudo western/futuristic story, add in a little personal inner turmoil with some deep searching for the self, and end up with a beautiful love story. Thank you so much!

What did you think of Small Sacrifices? That happened near my home town.....I thought Diane Downs was super creepy and well now I can't listen to "Hungry Like the Wolf" without thinking about infanticide!

I must say that after I read the book, No Country for Old Men, which was spell binding, I was sure the movie would not hold a candle to the book. I was surprised. The book was a terrific adaptation of the book, very true to form.

More exciting news at the Suspense & Thrillers Group…as you might already know that Keith Katsikas, author of “2060: The Newton Prophecies” will be leading a discussion on his book. We don’t have a date set up yet, but will in a couple of weeks.

In the meantime, Amanda Stevens, author of THE DOLLMAKER, has also agreed to lead the discussion for May’s Group Read, which is THE DOLLMAKER. I’m really excited as this is something new and might become a new trend with our group discussions. If you’ve already read the book, come join us. If not, see if you can grab a copy. There’s still time as the discussion won’t begin until the first week of May.

I loved the Cheysuli books. They are really good if you like lots of magic and fantasy and horses and swords. They remind me of Katherine Kurtz Deryni chronicles alot I'm sure I read some where that Jennifer Roberson was a fan of hers too so that would explain it. The rain/hail storms did not do too much damage in my neck of the woods. I made it through ok, but my cats were not happy. When ever we have big storms they are convinced its me who is making all the noise. Its Like 85 right now, but thats Texas weather for you.

    Hey Gashly,
I was just thinking about dropping you a line :) I am okay unfortunately I am not able to read as much as I was before the baby :( but that's okay. I have added The Other Boelyn Girl to my wish list but I have not read it yet. Let me know what you think. I am currently reading The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox by Maggie O'Farrell and East of Eden by Steinbeck.

Where do you find all those great books you read? My library has NOTHING & the bookstores only have them special order and I hate buying a book without having it in my hot little hand so I can read a few pages and make sure it's worth buying. I've been trying to find some torrents to download, but haven't had much luck yet, because I just have no idea what to look for other than titles.
