Remarkably insightful look into the Billy Beane approach to the cost-per-wins issue in MLB. Doesn't always paint Beane in the best light, but makes some truthful observations of the old way vs new way conflict in managing the front office of major league ball clubs. If nothing else, it stirs a debate.

  • The Stark Truth
    • Rated 4 stars

In a manner reticent of a water-cooler debate, Stark presents the evidence for his (controversial) tags of over-rated and under-rated baseball players. It's a fun read, and for those offended by some of the suggestions they should consider Stark's constant reminder that he isn't challenging a player's worth, but the consistency of how and why we appraise certain players above others. A great read!

A good start for anyone looking to learn the Python language. Good reference, easy to follow examples and common-sense structure. Helped me get my grounding.

Easily one of the funniest books I've ever read. Great in that the humour is so consistent, non-repetitive, and with at least one laugh-out-loud moment on each page!

As a history buff I appreciate the detail that he goes to, to really bring as much factual reference into the book as possible.
