I'm a 31 year old Purchasing Manager for a wonderful small company and I love to read!! I can never have enough books lined up waiting to be read and I spend way too much money at Barnes & Noble and on Amazon. When I was a kid I started reading books like Beezus & Ramona, and Charlotte's Web. But my real passion for reading started in junior high when I started reading The Babysitter's Club books, Sweet Valley Twins, and Sweet Valley High. Sounds corny I know. But while I was creating my shelf I was surprised to see how many Danielle Steel books I've read because that is not my style anymore. That was a phase I went through in high school like most girls I suppose. My tastes in reading have changed. I'm willing to read anything I can get my hands on because it's all a learning experience, but I prefer to read books with depth and meaning......books that touch my soul........books that make me feel like I found a new friend.
Some of my interests include: Reading, writing, scrapbooking, shopping, movies, traveling, learning, genealogy, music, asian design, lighthouses, cooking, animals, and rollercoasters!
Some of my favorite quotes about books and reading:
When I got my library card, that was when my life began.
~ Rita Mae Brown ~
Books are not made for furniture, but there is nothing else that so beautifully furnishes a house.
~ Henry Ward Beecher ~
Where is human nature so weak as in the bookstore?
~ Henry Ward Beecher ~
Books are the quietest and most constant of friends;
they are the most accessible and wisest of counselors,
and the most patient of teachers.”
~ Charles W. Eliot ~
In a very real sense, people who have read good literature
have lived more than people who cannot or will not read.
It is not true that we have only one life to lead; if we can read, we can live as many more lives and as many kinds of lives as we wish.
~ S. I. Hayakawa ~
Wear the old coat and buy the new book.
~ Austin Phelps ~
I would be most content if my children grew up to be
the kind of people who think decorating
consists mostly of building enough bookshelves. (1993)
~ Anna Quindlen ~
AND MY MOST FAVORITE:
Just the knowledge that a good book is awaiting one
at the end of a long day makes the day happier.
