Oh, I see! It got re-added to the list when shelfari did the combine, I just thought that perhaps it is a part of some series after all, since I'm not familiar with the work. Thanks for letting me know!

    Hello, Farida!

I just thought to let you know that I've removed "Raven's Ink" from the standard series "Raven" as a) it seems to be a stand-alone book, and not part of a series b) it's not part of that particular series. Please let me know if I missed something. Thank you!

    Salams.

I've made a quick look at your shelf. Quiet interesting.
Just how did you manage to add all those Arabic books? I've searched for many but couldn't find all I wanted.

    Thanks in advance :)

    Hi :)
Ramadan Mubarak to you too !
The Pretty Little Liars series is fun to read, I don't watch the TV series but I heard that they go too fast in the TV show.
They miss alot of stuff in the TV show and it's a bit different regarding the things that happen and the way the girls look.

No, my friend. It is funny. I tried to mix different ideas in only two or three words, something like "friendly biased against". It is that he had some previous ideas before meeting the Arabs, and when he got to meet them, he continued to see them through the ideas he had previously acquired. That is very typical of all human cultures.

I am studying that man's simplicities, but he was a real gentleman. Although he has simple ideas of the Arabs (that simplicity is logical: he only spent 43 days of his life in the Middle East, he didn't have time to reconsider), he admires many aspects of the civilization he was visiting: he was surprised at the "cosmopolitism" and variety of Cairo, where fellahs, sherifs, Berbers, Arabians, Persians, Turks, Nubians, Abyssinians, Christian copts, Jews... crowded the streets, and he declared that the worst race present in Egypt was the Europeans who had gone there to exploit the Arabs (that is brave to declare, considering he was himself a European).

Two years after that voyage he was appointed Portuguese consul in Havana, in a moment when England was an empire pressing hard to abolish slavery. Since Cuban plantations were based on slave work and they had to release the Africans, they found a trick to bring Chinese workers "under contract" and cheat them into an actual state of slavery. Since those Chinese started the journey to Cuba from Macao, then a Portuguese colony, Eça de Queirós considered them Portuguese citizens and fought hard to change the unjust laws and improve the situation of those poor Chinese. He was a gentleman.

If someone does not fully understand your heart but likes things about you and always tries to defend you, wouldn't you consider that someone a friend, despite their limitations?

    Hello, my friend,

I'm learning a lot about that author I once told you (Letters from England). I wrote a short description for another book by the same author at http://www.shelfari.com/books/24048716/O-Egypto
