I have always loved to read, from when I first learned how in grade school. My favorite subjects varied, as does my taste in books.

Now, I like to read romance, suspense, thrillers, true crime, and some nonfiction.

Some of my favorite authors are: Sandra Brown, Iris Johansen, Tony Hillerman, Dan Brown, Johanna Lindsey,... more »

I really like your story. It stayed clean and you got your point across with any profane language. Please post it in your group to help us new writers see what you mean about chapter openings, character development, climax, and ending of chapter. Also the showing and not telling.

Thanks. I still have 9 or 10 queries out. It will be crazy if some of them say yes!

Requeried the first agency who requested a partial and rejected it beck in January. After a month of waiting, they're going to give my partial another shot! yay! Thanks for all the help and encouragement! Wish me luck and I'll keep you posted.

If you've rewritten your book and your query, is it okay to re-query agents who seemed to give positive rejections?

Looking at your website...You know Ken Rand? That guy is awesome! I met him at a writer's conference a few years back, and then he did a presentation on his 10% solution. I learned a lot.

Thanks so much! I just e-queried with just a synopsis. I feel like a schmuck but at least I won't repeat this foolish action.

Question: When submission guidelines say: query with synopsis and/or sample chapters, do they mean send a query letter with the synopsis, or just send the synopsis?

Sorry to hear that you will be retiring. Your excellent web site has some sound advice for writers. I am in retirement and enjoying it. Free to follow Macaulay's advice: It is far better to write from a full mind than an empty pocket.

If you are curious, see--and sample--my well-reviewed mystery "Assignment in Antibua" on Amazon. If you are inclined to buy it and don't have a Kindle, see it on mobipocket.com.

Good luck and much fullfilment in the years ahead!

Authors On The Net is an association for authors to learn how to build their platform, both in terms of their credibility and their audience. It is free to join with no upgrades for $$. We do sell some products like our Self-Publishing in a Box kit and some mentoring courses. We have over 350 members and some great participation and authors can place ads for their books. While the site is not intended to be another online bookstore, some members have bought other members books.

7 months later I finally made it back. Things are settling down a bit. I'll look around in the groups and start to participate and promote Authors On The Net (www.authorsonthenet.com). The community is approaching 350 members so it's a lot of fun. Thanks and take care.

I don't know if she is Mormon, but the BYU thing does indicate that. Based on the story, you wouldn't guess it though. Hey, I found a ton of insulin syringes (20 or so boxes) while cleaning my uncle's house. Do you want any? Give me your phone # and I can let you know the gauge, arrange to deliver them and other details.

It is about vampires. It is a series of 3 books Twilight, New Moon and Eclipse. So far I have only read Twilight. It is about a 17 year old girl who meets Edward on her first day at a new school. Edward is physically 17 years old, but was turned into a vampire 90 years ago. It is a romance story between a vampire and a mortal. The series is designed for teens, so it has no bad language, violence or sex, but still remains enchanting. Parts of the romance make your heart miss a beat and at times you laugh...it is written by Stephanie Meyer. She went to BYU and lives in Arizona.

I am glad you had a great time!! I always liked Yellowstone Park. It is sooooo close to my "boyfriend" Harrison Ford's ranch in Jackson I would have been on the lookout for him at any moment (and perhaps found myself lost somewhere so I might be rescued in his helicopter)!! How is the rest of your summer going?

Thank you so much for joining the special group I've created for my book, The Newton Prophecies! I hope you will come and read about the book and all the fun and intriguing facts, theories, and hypothesis that went into writing it!

Please come ask questions and tell your friends to come do the same. I am looking forward to answering them. Writing this book was a lot of fun, I enjoyed the research tremendously. I cannot wait to read what you thought of the book. If you haven't read it yet I do have a limited number of ARCs still available at 50% off MSRP. If you live in the United States you'll pay just $7.50 plus $2.00 shipping for a signed trade paperback. The final edition will be available this holiday season (November) in both trade paperback and hardcover.

Again, I'd like to thank you for joining The Newton Prophecies group... See you soon! =)

Dear Tina, I just have to say it. I think it's totally awesome the amount of time and energy you devote to answering queries and helping writers. I wish I could do that but just don't have the time. Still, jus thought i'd write and express my appreciation anyway:)
