    i'm reading east of eden right now, and i gotta say, it's really dragging. i just can't get into it, it's just about these two brothers who don't like each other and had a bad military father, and he left them 100,000 dollars in his will (but it's the 1880's so that's a bunch) and blah blah blah. i don't like it. have you read the pearl before? it's the only other steinbeck novel i've read, and that one was horrid.
