Thank you for accepting my invitation. From you I hope to learn about an entirely "different world"...obviously one which interests me. Of course, I was also taken by your photo with your cat! Cats are good!:-)

Hey there - I see that you have Glenn Randall's "Breaking Point" on your shelf. Have you read it? What did you think? Worth reading?

Thanks, hi, nice to meet you and all that.

Wow, good questions. I’d like to learn more about “living off the land”, so to speak. How to find water, food, build shelter etc. “Bushcraft” would be fun to learn but, I guess my overall goal would be to “see” better when out in nature. I’ve spent most of my life hiking, camping, etc and think I “see” better in the woods than many people. I see more plants, wildlife etc. I was always quite proud of myself in this capacity until I went out in the woods with my dad several years ago. (He was born and raised in rural Appalachia if you’re familiar with that part of the US and as such was very connected to nature) All of a sudden I was the “blind” man.

“Hey look, there was a deer rutting up against this tree. Looks like he was such and such size. Probably was here just a day or so ago.” Everywhere he turned he saw, heard, and smelled things that I didn’t. It was an eye opener. He has been gone for many years and I have lost touch with that side of my family. So, I’d like to find a way to improve my “vision”. Does this make sense?

I guess my main concern with this particular group is that they do appear to be mainly college age students and I’ve been out of college for 20 years.

As much as I'd like to take your class, it's unlikely to happen in the next decade. :) There is a group very close to me though that I've been investigating. I'm sending you the link to their site. I'd appreciate your thoughts as to the legitimacy of what they're teaching.

    The site is http://www.owlcreekprograms.com/index.html

    Thanks,

Hmmm, thought I left you a note but it's not showing up.

Thanks so much for the friend request. I'm enjoying the group greatly.

"I have just spent the morning teaching a class of 8 year olds about ancient fire making at a site 5,000 years old. Now for a good book and tea :)"

How fun is that! Sure beats sitting in meetings all day and watching my Inbox fill up with email.

    Cheers!

Hi! I noticed you had a book entitled Towards Asmara tagged as a "survival" story, but Shelfari doesn't give any kind of description about it. If you have a minute, I'd love a quick note about it. Thanks, Lindsey
