I've been on a very long bout of fluff reading - especially fluffy niche mysteries. I won't apologize for that. I figure it is better for me to be reading than to not be reading because the books I... more »

This was a fun southern fiction read packed with sass. It opens with the protagonist catching her fiance and maid of honor going at it at the rehearsal dinner and for Keeley her life keeps going down from there. The book is peppered with great character interaction that is entertaining and mostly believable. The plot is a bit predictable, but the craziness and humor make it worth reading. There is a bit of mystery sprinkled in with some romance, though I wouldn't classify it as specifically either genre, but rather chick lit.

Once again Goldy finds herself trying to solve a mystery, only this time the prime suspect is herself! With even more on the line than ever, Goldy keeps her head about her (mostly) and stays out of jail, if not out of trouble.

A well-written book on the fringe of my usual reading genres, but I loved it! I had seen the Sci-Fi channel series previously and this is even better.

I loved this book! I'm intrigued to see where the series goes from here, as it didn't feel really set up for another installment. In this first installment, a down-on-her-luck Lori finds herself staying in an opulent home of an unusual lawyerly father and son duo. She has been named an heir of her "aunt Dimity" whom she never met, but knew through childhood stories. However, to receive her inheritance there are some strings attached that she must unravel.

  • Thyme of Death (China Bayles Mysteries (Paperback))

Recommended to me by Stumbling Over Chaos while browsing Antholog, a new and use book store in Loveland. It is the first in a series featuring former Houston lawyer, China Bayles, who now is an herb shop owner in small town Pecan Springs, Texas. In this first installment the her shop owner becomes murder investigator when a good friend who was terminally ill appears to have committed suicide.

This series just gets better and better. In this fifth installment, manager of The Village Blend, Clare Cosi, returns to NYC after a summer in the Hamptons. She and her ex-husband, Mattero Allegro, have some exciting news to announce, but soon Clare finds herself sucked back into sleuthing when a friend of theirs gets assaulted in the alley behind the Blend.

A great showing for a first novel! I'm excited to check out the other two titles in this series featuring part-time "summer cop" Danny Boyle who is driving around ex-MP, John Ceepak, in Sea Haven, New Jersey.

  • Miss Julia Meets Her Match

Not one of the better Miss Julia books. It could have been because I accidentally read the next book before I read this one, but the humor seems not as prominent in this and for me, that is the lure of these books.

Yet another fun and quick read from WKK! I devoured it! Cork O'Conner sets out to help his healer friend, Henry, find his 70+ year long lost son and finds himself and others in trouble along the way. Meanwhile, his eldest daughter just graduated high school and hits some road bumps of her own over the summer months.

This was a fun southern fiction read. It was very heavy on the dialogue which was often amusing and pithy. I did have a few times when I didn't think the book was amusing. I think one needs to be in the right frame of mind when reading it to find it funny. But I'll definitely be checking out the other two in the trilogy.
