I've been on a very long bout of fluff reading - especially fluffy niche mysteries. I won't apologize for that. I figure it is better for me to be reading than to not be reading because the books I... more »

  • Love Lies Bleeding: A China Bayles Mystery
    • Rated 4 stars

Yet another enjoyable installment of the adventures of former attorney turned herb shop owner, China Bayles. In this one a new acquaintance of China's discovers her husband of two years shot in his study upon her return from the grocery store. China's cohorts pull her into the investigation despite her reluctance and what she turns up in the case and her personal life throws everyone for a loop!

If you've enjoyed the others in this series this will be equally engaging.

Another great story in this lesser known series. Once again, widower Claire Watkins finds herself in the midst of some strange occurrences in the small Wisconsin town she fled to. As deputy sheriff and former detective from the Twin Cities, it is up to her to untangle the mess and find out what is connected and what isn't and who is to be brought to justice.

Despite my liking to draw out series I checked out the next book in the series right away. If you enjoy mysteries with a bit more bite to them than your standard cozy give this series a try.

My favorite of this most recent batch of cozies from the library. If you like the Kyra Davis or Nancy Bush cozies you'll like this series too. I can't wait to read the follow-up!

  • Murder on a Girls' Night Out: A Southern Sisters Mystery

A fun cosy with some southern sass. It took a bit to get pulled in and even at the end I still had a bit of trouble keeping characters straight, but an enjoyable read. I will continue reading this series if they maintain or improve.

I didn't really get pulled into this one. It was a slow mover for me. I think it was a lack of connection with the main character. I'll give the next one or two a try and see how I feel before I decide whether to stay up on this series.

An awesome suspense novel! The story is told in a very unique way that really made the book. I can see why it was nominated for an Edgar award. A must read for those who enjoy suspense/thrillers!

A fascinating suspence centered on revenge, with just enough passion to lighten it up a bit. A real page turner!

Another fun mystery featuring the black, jewish mystery author Sophie Katz. In this installment Sophie and her sister become entangled in the mess of suspects and once again Anatoli comes to Sophie's rescue.

I read the audible version and the narrator did a great job!

My mom recommended this book to me some time ago and I couldn't get my hands on a copy at the library, so she gave it to me for Christmas. It was a well told story, though I still need to talk to mom about what drew her to it so much. Don't get me wrong it is a well written book with an interesting plot, but it wasn't earth shattering to me and I recall mom being *really* excited about.

I can't help it, I'm in love with this series. I get such a kick out of Lori falling in love with whatever man crosses her path when she is solving a mystery, no matter that she is happily married (even if he is often away) with twin boys. This was another fun installment that I wish had lasted longer.
