Yes! I read it in 8th grade, I think. It's similar in concept to Give a Boy a Gun-- exposing how people treat others, what peer pressure and typical junior high/ high school situations can cause in their extreme cases.
How do you like British humor? If you love it, you'll love P.G. Wodehouse. Anything with Bertie and Jeeves is good. Maybe start with Code of the Woosters. On a more serious level, you could read The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. It's written entirely from the perspective of a boy with autism, and it's fascinating. I highly recommend it.
