Love to read, write, and draw while homeschooling my two boys, ages 12 and 7.

I'm 41 years old. I have been married for 18 years. I'm a California native but now live in North Carolina.

Currently I'm in the process of trying to get my YA Christian Fantasy (tentatively titled: Shadow of Evil (Book One of the Shadow Wars))... more »

  • Before the Season Ends (A Regency Inspirational Romance)
    • Rated 4 stars

I am a HUGE Jane Austen fan, so when I heard about Linore's book, I had to read it! She really has the language of Jane down pat. She even has Jane's humor, which is tougher to do than the language. I laughed and giggled with and at her characters throughout the book. This is an inspirational Regency book, so it has a lot more God stuff than Jane did, but all in all, it was the closest thing to Jane Austen I've ever read. I give it four out of five stars! I will be sure to read all of the books that Linore writes. SUCH FUN!

  • Nobody's Princess

If you love mythology, you'll get a kick out of Nobody's Princess. It is the story of who Helen of Troy was a young girl. The author uses mythological legends and weaves them throughout Helen's childhood experiences. Wonderful!

I can't wait to read the second book...Helen is joining Jason and the Argonaughts on the quest for the golden fleece...she's dressed as a weapon's bearer, a boy, and it promises to be a grand adventure.

  • A Passion Most Pure (Daughters of Boston, Book 1)
    • Rated 4 stars

Normally, I do not like romantic historical books, but Julie had my interest right off. I come from a family of rivaling girls, so this really had me giggling nostagically. I'll be sure to read the sequel of this one. :-)

Tosca Lee has a knack for taking traditions we all take for granted and giving them a new understanding. Her startling look at the story of Adam and Eve, although quite disturbing at times, had me reevaluating my own assumptions about the first family. Never had I thought about Eve’s relationship with Adam changing along with her relationship with God. Tosca made me think more deeply about the consequences of the first sin than I had ever done before.

At first? Reluctant. Next? Intrigued. By the second page? Thoroughly engaged. Sue has brought the urban mythos of vampires and werewolves to the spiritual plane. She causes her readers to delve into tragedy while hoping for redemption. Bravo! I eagerly await the promised sequel.

This is one of my favorite teen book series. So very funny, cute, and witty. Love the main character, Scotty...just can't get enough of her!

  • Romancing Hollywood Nobody
    • Rated 5 stars

Romancing Hollywood Nobody is a deliciously fun read. Lisa Samson’s quirky heroine, Scotty Dawn, had me ROTFLOL on every page. Her satirical tongue rivals Jane Austen’s Elizabeth Bennet both in savvy wit and pert opinions. A stylish blogging teen with brains and beauty. What’s not to love?—I’m just sayin’!

  • The Book of Names
    • Rated 4 stars

    D. Barkley Briggs has penned a rousing fantasy packed full of Norse and Celtic mythology with a hardy dose of Arthurian Legend. With a wide range of emotions, he moved me from the sadness of loss to the giddiness of comic relief, all the way to the excitement of heart pounding tension. Strap on your armor, pull out your sword, and get ready for an adventure.

  • The Summer the Wind Whispered My Name
    • Rated 4 stars

With hilarious narrative alongside poignant life lessons, Don Locke has captured growing up in the 60’s with all its charm as well as its ignorance. Each chapter reminded me of a Wonder Years episode, causing laughter and tears. It saddened me terribly to close the book at the end.

  • The Summer of Cotton Candy
    • Rated 3 stars

The Summer of Cotton Candy had me reminiscing about fun in the sun, roller coaster rides, and the thrill of being 17. Alongside first job jitters, were cute masked men, teenage angst, and a whole lot of drama. Debbie Viguie described her dream theme park in such a great way that I want season tickets! I look forward to reading more of the Sweet Seasons novels.
