Really enjoyed it, although a little heavy on the civil war details in places. Definetely moves some of the story lines on, just can't wait for the last one now. Although be warned there are some series cliff hangers at the end and some fun new characters. Hopefullly you manage to get hold of it soon, I ended up ordering mine from USA on Amazon. Let me know what you think when you finish it.
I got The Help at the library. Put it on the list for down the road. Yes, The Doctor's Wife is pretty involved with all the issues!
I'm stealing books from your To Read shelf - Annie's Ghost looks good. Do you like The Doctor's Wife? I liked City of Thieves very much, let me know when you get to that one.
Hi Eve, I came over to see what you're reading. I read the Toobin book ages ago and liked his writing style. I don't know if I'd have the nerve to pick up If I Did It, though. What started your Simpson binge? I still remember sitting on the patio of a restaurant in Buckhead watching the "chase."
I did that this week - read a book I actually own, I mean. Just one, though. Then I picked up six more holds from the library. ;-)
I liked it a lot, but then, I hadn't heard a lot about it, and for some reason I had the idea it was a Ya-Yas sort of thing so I was surprised and delighted by the actual book. I like epistolary books, although I know a lot of people don't like the format.
So, are you enjoying Guernsey?
That's funny! ...you hovered too long over the stars. Technology has really changed things, hasn't it? I never thought I'd find anybody who read as much as I do and here you all are on Shelfari....and giving me good ideas on what to read next.
Oh, okay. It was written by one of my Shelfari friends so I ordered it from Amazon. Will let you know how it is.
Okay, I'm sending you a private message so there won't be spoilers at large.
Hi Eve,Just received Weeds like us in the mail. Glad you rated it so highly....now I'm anxious to get started on it!
You really want to know?
Hi, Eve- I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Guernsey...It was on my to read list forever and I finally picked it up in anticipation of an airplane flight-needed a paperback. It was 'unputdownable'! I didn't want to finish it, and was reluctant to start a new book, because I didn't want to 'leave' Guernsey.Let me know what you think!
That's exactly how I felt about Deliverance. I hope the author sticks to historical fiction for her next book, because I think she writes that very well. (Maybe I'm just too old to imagine falling in love with a guy with a nose ring.)
LOL - I hate it when that happens! Or when something comes in that you put on hold months ago, when you were number 368 on the list, and you look at it and wonder, "What in the heck did I want with this?" I'm awful about going through the "upcoming releases" list on my library's website and requesting anything that looks mildly interesting. (ain't technology grand?)
Yikes. Like a reading burn aout syndrome? I had that at the beginning of July. Maybe you should give yourself a break?! Serously I hope you'll be cured soon. :) And tell me what you thought of the book when you read it.

LOL about library holds. The reason I haven't read the first book for the summer challenge is that I own it, so there's no deadline for returning it! I WILL finish it by the end of August, though. (I hope. I just signed up for another "read really really fast" challenge at Play Book Tag, so who knows.)
Talk about a speech mess! When you get around to it, let me know how you like the Kelly Gang. Peter Carey read Ned Kelly's Jerilderie Letter and picked up Kelly's grammar (or lack thereof) and the cadence of his writing perfectly. It's eerie, it's almost indistinguishable from Kelly's actual writing - an amazing piece of work on Carey's part. It takes some getting used to, though. (Be sure to google Ned Kelly's armor, if you've never seen it. There's something about counting the bullet dents that just adds to the whole book experience.)
Eve if you like challenges you should come join I love Reading Challenges. It definatley is helping me dwindle my pile
