This book is over seven hundred pages of one tragedy after the other, I don't understand how it made on the 1001 books you must read before you die. If I didn't have the audio book I probably wouldn't have finished it.

If you are a fan of the Twilight series I think you will love this book. The writing style is very good and the story is very suspenseful, I just couldn't put the book down I had to know what will happen to Laurel. So I am really looking forward to the rest of the series.

    Indie Girl

Indie Konkipuddi is a fifteen year old girl who dreams of becoming a fashion reporter. She would do anything to get an internship with Celebrity Style magazine, even if she have to babysit publisher Aaralyn Taylor's two year old son. Indie's father who is a neurosurgeon doesn't understand why his daughter give up her weekends to look after someone else's child and soon Indie starts wondering the same thing.

This is a good young adult story, it's short with only 232 pages, not much goes on but in the end it's a story young people might learn a lesson or two. My only complaint is the grammar, there were some obvious mistakes and I am one of those readers who just can't stand basic grammar mistakes.

I didn't finish reading it, the reviews are not encouraging and for some reason I just can't get myself to finish reading it.

Townsfolk called him devil. For dark and enigmatic Julian, Earl of Ravenwood, was a man with a legendary temper and a first wife whose mysterious death would not be forgotten. Some said the beautiful Lady Ravenwood had drowned herself in the black, murky waters of Ravenwood Pond. Others whispered of foul play and the devil's wrath.

Now country-bred Sophy Dorring is about to become Ravenwood's new bride. Drawn to his masculine strength and the glitter of desire that burned in his emerald eyes, the tawny-haired lass had her own reasons for agreeing to a marriage of convenience. One was vengeance, and in its pursuit she would entangle Julian in a blackmail plot, a duel at dawn, and a dangerous masquerade. The other reason was dearer to her heart, but just as wild a quest: Sophy Dorring intended to teach the devil to love again.

I am not really into romance novels but since this one was already on my shelf and tagged humor by shelfari member I thought I would read it. The story was very predictable, and I didn't like the hero very much, he was a jerk at first and I thought he would change by then end of the story, he didn't. the overall story was okay, but I wouldn't read another book by this author, I've already read two and that's enough.

Jack St. Bride is wrongly accused of having a sexual relationship with his fifteen year old student Catharine Marsh. Jack agrees to plea bargain finding no other way out of this situation and spends eight months in prison. When he is released he moves to Salem Falls and tries to start a new life, he finds a job as a dishwasher and falls in love the owner of the diner. Everything is going well until another teenager Gillian Duncan accuses him of raping her and has her friends who are all witches back her up.
I wasn't sure if I wanted to read another Jodi Picoult novel after reading Harvesting the Heart, but I am glad I read this one, it was dull in the beginning but when Jack was accused of raping a minor for the second time, things got very interesting.

I loved this book, I think because it made me think and I kept wondering about the reasons behind some of the main character's decisions. I did a quick online search and all I could find is some theories on her last decision, but it was not what I was looking for. I wanted to know why of all her suitors did she choose to marry Gilbert Osmond, she seems too smart to do that. I also wondered what was the author thinking when he wrote this book.

    What Katy Did Next

    by Susan Coolidge
    • Rated 3 stars

The story of Katy Carr continues. In this book Katy is invited by her friend Mrs. Ashe to go to Europe with her and her daughter Amy for a year, Katy accepts the invitations and goes to Europe and visit the places she dreamed of seeing for so long.
I haven't read all the books in the series, only this one and the first book What Katy Did. I liked the first much better, it was much more emotional than this one.

Katy Carr and her five brothers and sisters love to play games and have adventures, they are always getting into mischief. One day her invalid cousin Helen comes to visit and Katy learns many valuable lessons through her after a dreadful accident.
This is a wonderful book, I had it on my shelf for years but never got to read it until now. When I decided to finally read it, I thought it would be just another children story and nothing special. I was wrong, I am 24 years old and I loved this book, the story was really great and filled my eyes with tears. I recommend it for people of all ages, there are great lessons in this book.
