Hi there. You still have to join the group by clicking the bar on the group's page. You aren't an official member until you do that.

    Happy reading!

Glad you found "Amnesty"--I hope you enjoy it. And, of course, you can join the Octavia Butler Talk forum. Just click the bar in the upper right corner of the page that says "Join this group!" It's that simple. Welcome aboard.

the reason i posted it as an ebook, was because i thought it had a nice tie in to kindred, wanted sweetafton, jboogie and a few others from african american books to be able to look at it. as i am a very white guy, wanted to make sure i wasnt going in the wrong direction somewhere

    Hey Minnie!

Arizona is HOT, but I'm loving it. I hope to see you at the Romance Slam Jam in 2008. It has some great workshops.

She's not actually dying. Le petit mort, the little death, is a euphemism for orgasm. She is ecstatic, not in pain. I imagine that someone who writes about vampires would really get the concept of mutual pleasure and pain!

It's not Mary at all. It's St. Therese from Bernini's "The Ecstasy of St. Therese" and her expression is quite the little death. It should inspire delight rather than sadness, if you catch my drift.

I'll let you know when I am able to source Catharsis.

Oh, I will definitely have to find your vampire stories. LOVE them. And you are right, "people are [often] biased against the unknown." Not me, though. I couldn't be in my field if I were.

Ahhh, I see. Life's too short to be so easily offended. And, if folks are offened, they don't have to read it. It's too bad that your work received that reaction from some. Then again, some folks really don't like to be challenged. I see in your profile that you have written about vampires. Which books are those?

I've just read the review, and remain curious as to why you think I might be offended.

Hi there and thanks for your note. It made me giggle actually. I wonder why you think it would be daunting to hear what I think of your book. I might have too much to say? ;) What's The Seduction of Mr Bradley about? What genre? Vampires? Love them. Have you read Alan Dundes's edited collection, The Vampire: A Casebook? Great scholarship!
    cheers,
