Hi everyone,
I just recently changed my profile picture. Because I had a picture of a puppy, I was getting a lot of friendship requests from children. I think children are great and mine is 19, but since I am 44 years old I really just want to keep friends with other grown ups. So if you are a kid and I took you off it's nothing personal. Thanks.

    Hello, Esmeralda

Since you like to 'fantasy cast', I thouight I'd tell you about our website just for fantasy casting. It's called StoryCasting (www.storycasting.com), and we have a large group of people who show up just to cast. Based on your experience here, I'd be VERY interested in your comments, not just on the website, but on the whole book-casting thing. We'd someday like Amazon/Shelfari to partner with us - it just seems natural, since they also own the iMDB, too.

    Hope to hear from you!

I'm almost finished with Twilight (the first of a series of books) by Stephanie Meyer. I think that you might enjoy these books! My school librarian referred me and I can barely sleep or eat because I have so little time to read for fun and I love this book!

Hey Esmeralda- I'm not a kid - This is a pic of my lovely daughter!! I noticed you have a lot of Diana Gabaldon books on your shelf. I read the lst 2-3 of her books then got away from them. Would like to pick her up again. Do the others follow the same story line or are they different?

Vampires, Witches & Were’s all that
would like to invite you to participate in the ABC contest starting on July 1, 2008.
I will post a thread that has the letters of the ABC's list, then start your own thread for example mine would be Sherry's ABC's and list the books that you read with those letters has the first letter in any title of book, it doesn't have to be in the genre either. Each person will be responsible for sending me their points via the group email at vampireswitchesweresallthat@yahoo.com. For every book you read during the time period (until the next letters are posted) you will receive 10 points in the email you must list the title, author, and pages so that if there is tie, we will use page count to break the tie. Everyone is eligible to win, even admin's as a third party will be keeping track of the points for me...so post the books you read...I will post the first letters on July 1.

    As always happy reading..
Show me the books he loves and I shall know the man
far better than through mortal friends.

    Fellow Shelfari Friend,

i recommend strongly you read:: How Wal-Mart is Destroying America. See
what your conclusions are , and then share your thoughts top other consumers. Here are my thoughts...( note: I try to be a fair, siomple minded, common sense person at all times. This book has me a tad perturbed, to say the least

    Here are my thoughts

Is anyone as Disgusted and Disturbed as I am after reading this book? I realize the author has a bit of a slant as he abhors WM, however it is downright scary.

Can this company be any worse for America?

    Where do we start?
Importing tons of CHEAP product from overseas
    Greedy
    Taking advantage of its workers
Beating its suppliers out of business for its own gain
Killing economies as they move into town.
Utilizing and taking advantage of government subsidies to get their "boxes" built.

So we all save 10 cents per box of popcorn or a gallon of cranberry juice.

This to me sums up how silly we the American people are. We are outsourcing America to death. Pretty soon there will be no jobs so we won t be able to shop anywhere.

Not to mention the service is awful.

We the public have the final say and we CHOOSE to shop where we want.

Will some peope read this and STILL shop there to save a few pennies?.. of course. however i think if most read this........ they ll choose to spend their dollars elsewhere.

Walmart is , in my opinion eating America up. We all need to wise up here. I don t know of a situation where monopolies are any good for the consumer. Do you??

    Thanks,

Hi, it seems we have a lot of books in common and I was curious what you thought of How The Irish Save Civilization--I reaLLY WANT to read it and also Outlander. You just appeared on my list as having most in common. I'm happy to see that because a lot of the other members have 30,000 books or so and I feel the number in common with them isn't so relevant.

Wow! 8 year olds on Shelfari? The age of technology is so strange. I don't think I discovered the wonders of cyberspace until I was about 12 or so. I think the youngest I've seen is 13 and I still hesitate adding them even though there's only a 6 year difference, hah.

Thanks for the rec. I've read some Hellblazer and Constantine, but not enough. I love the Vertigo universe, though :D

Hi, I noticed we have many books in common, and you have numerous books on your shelf I plan on reading at some point. May I friend you? I am quite young at 19, but I'm a mature 19. What do you think of Swamp Thing by Alan Moore? I've noticed you reading it, and I personally love Moore but haven't gotten around to that series yet.
