I'm the author of two novels, Naked in the Rain and the sequel, Afterglow. The books are about two runaway teenage boys who fall in love with each other as they're lured into a world of sex, drugs and power. Naked in the Rain won several awards, including the international 2008 Next Generation Indie Book Awards (Winner,... more »

This book is amazing! Somewhat slow-paced at first (as one might expect from a book of this length) -- but always fascinating. The pay-off for the reader when the action really gets going is absolutely rewarding. This book really made me think.

This book is not just for Kristin Hersh fans. Hersh's voice is honest, fresh and unique. "Rat Girl" offers wonderful insights into her lyrics and music, as well as the music business, bipolar disorder, and being pregnant. I hope this is the first of many memoirs from Ms. Hersh.

Especially nice that it picked up immediately after the prior book ("Conspirator"). My only complaint is that now we all have to wait for the next book to see what happens -- Cherryh left us hanging just a bit...

CJ Cherryh is one of my all-time favorite authors. I love this series, and decided to re-read this one before reading the newest in the series. As always, I love the characters, the world created, and the political intrigue. "Conspirator" is particularly fun for me because we finally get to go on vacation to the coast with Bren! (not much of a vacation though, after all!) The action starts sooner in this book, too. It's interesting to get a different point of view character (the precocious Cajeiri) -- which only started in the last couple of books. Looking forward to the newest addition to this series!!

What a great story! I hope the movie(s) do it justice...

Wow, another disturbing -- but great -- read. (Is this how people feel when they read my novels? I guess it's different when you've written it yourself.)

Heather O'Neill has a great style, a real believability that the narrator is only 12 years old. The kind of book that is so well written it's hard to believe it's not actually a memoir.

I also really appreciated the extra information in the back (which happened to prove it is Not a memoir). My only complaint -- hate the cover! What was the publisher thinking??

If you like this book, try "Josie & Jack" by Kelly Braffet and "Naked in the Rain" by Eowyn Wood. Similar feel, some similar subject matter, and disturbing at times...

When I first read this (in 2005, when it had just been published), I didn't like it as much as the other Potter books. Now reading it again, I have no idea why -- except perhaps as a subconcious reaction to the death that occurs... Because this book is fantastic!

I had planned to only give 3 stars because I was annoyed by something: Once they leave for Hogwarts, Ginny is not mentioned until halfway through the book!! Not even when they are saying goodbye to the Weasleys at the train station. Did anyone else notice this? It's as if Rowling just forgot about poor Ginny. Then one day she turns up in the Great Hall, and she's back.

But as you can see, I did give this book 4 stars, because the last 100 pages were SO GOOD they made up for the lack of Ginny, and left me very satisfied indeed.

This is the first one in the series where Harry and friends are not trying to solve a mystery of some kind. And surprisingly, it's better for that. Or maybe it's the addition of great characters like Lupin and Sirius Black...

Love this series! Definitely for grown-ups, too. My partner's reading them for the first time, and her pure enjoyment inspired me to read them again. The series gets better as it goes along, so I'm staring with 3-stars...
