    Hi,
Nice to make your acquaintance on Shelfari. I am an author/philosopher from Nebraska. Please check out my new motivational book "Moments of Forever: Discovering the True Power and Importance of Your Life" (a registered Shelfari title). It is a practical study in metaphysics that will help you find greater meaning in your life. I would be honored if you would consider adding it to your list of books to read.
    Thank you!

I enjoed reading Malcolm Gladwell's Tipping Point, his newer book, OUtliers, was a bit disappointing. Had a very interesting start and body of the book but in the end he fell short of tying all of the points together. I would recommend reading it but beware that the end leaves you hanging.

It is a great and humbling read. Don Piper is very open with his audience, and you can almost feel the pain he must have gone through. Very encouraging and well worth the time.

The Shack: Helpful or damaging? Helpful.

Extremely conservative followers of Christianity have some difficulties. I don't.

It is controversial because it looks at the trinity through a personal lens of grief and doesn't portray the customary imagery of the triune God. Still, I have not seen much in it that conflicts with scripture. It is important to remember it is a novel. I see in it truth. This is partly the God I know. Column of fire, burning bush, a spirit walking in the Garden... He can appear as He pleases and the depiction of this God is different, but it gives the reader space to explore our own hearts and how faith intersects with the larger issues of love, free will, evil, and redemption.

(Worth reading I'm on my third read.)

I think it is a good book to read…for the Evangelical Christian the underlying theology of the book may be confusing. While I appreciated some of the insights of Young, I certainly would not shelve this book next to my Theology books.
