Greetings! I'm here to explore what others are reading, meeting folks that like what I like, and can show me some new authors.

I'm 52 and my "boys" are all grown. Still married, after 32 years. I enjoy sending and receiving books via paperback book swap, and expanded my hobby to purchasing on ebay. YIKES!!!

I enjoy writing,... more »

LOL, sorry I'm just now reading this. No, it is not the entire 6th grade class. To tell the truth, I joined last August during a training, but I have not yet found a way to use shelfari in class. I'm afraid that my students limit their online expertise to myspace, facebook, bebo, etc. I don't know how I will convince them that this is more useful.

Judging from your bookshelf, I DO think you would enjoy The Lovely Bones. It is disturbing subject material, though, so be prepared to be shaken out of your comfort zone! I loved the perspective the author used to tell the story. Happy reading!

Hello. Thank you for your message. So glad I found this site as I am mad about books! I read the Lovely Bones a while ago but was quite affected by it. It's very moving and I would definitely recommend it - but have a box of tissues at the ready! :-)

Hi! Welcome to shelfari, a great site, might I add. I first read the Undomestic Goddess, a good romance, and then I read Remember Me? A hilarious Sophie Kinsella that will leave you gripped from the first page, then since I loved those two, I started reading the Shopalcholic series, and am mesmerized how much of me there is in Becky Bloomwood, also the british slang comes in handy. What's your name? Where you from?

BTW, there is a NJ Science Fiction Club on Yahoogroups. I was a member for a long time, but I recently resigned because I'm 2,500 miles away and couldn't attend any of their events.

Please do. I would accept in a heartbeat! I'm currently married to a lady who is technically half my age (not quite a year), and intellectually twice my age.

I really liked "The Shack". It opened my heart, in a brand new way. I wouldn't say that it is the best written book I have ever read...but after getting past that, the substance of the message REALLY touched my heart.

I have come to realize the truth and wisdom in your words. LOL. She has been working hard at training us and doing a rather remarkable job. Considering our stubborn reluctance to be HER pets, as opposed to the other way around. ;) She is not longer literally rending flesh from us. I should probably admit to that. Not that I think she can read or anything.
    But. . . well. Just in case. . . just in case. . .

I noticed you added "Team Rodent: How Disney Devours the World" to your wishlist. I read that several years back and thoroughly enjoyed it. It definitely gives you a different perspective on the Magic Kingdom? Although, I still have dreams of becoming a Disney Imagineer.

Ohh, and I'm glad you found my comments helpful, and good luck with your writing!

You asked about The Shack. It is controversial because it looks at the trinity through a personal lens of grief and doesn't portray the customary imagery of the triune God. Still, I have not seen much in it that conflicts with scripture. It is important to remember it is a novel. I see in it truth. This is partly the God I know. Column of fire, burning bush, a spirit walking in the Garden... He can appear as He pleases and the depiction of this God is different, but it gives the reader space to explore our own hearts and how faith intersects with the larger issues of love, free will, evil, and redemption.
