I'm reading Believing The Lie by Elizabeth George right now. I saw it on your shelf too and I was wondering if you'd read a lot of her stuff and what you think of her previous work.

I am already reading the next Gabaldon. I actually love all the history and politics and description. Its the romance scenes that drive me nuts. I feel like it she had left a bit more to the imagination and not been so detailed in that regard - her books could have been far more epic, people who don't shop the romance shelves would have been more likely to pick them up.

    Hi Tamsin

Thanks for adding me and I look forward to finding out more about you, it’s sogreat to meet people here who love books, my nonline friends are not great readers – I hope your hectic week has paid off and you have a lovely, happy Thanksgiving with your family. I got to spend Thanksgiving in the US when I was about thirteen and it is still one of my best memories, I hope it’s the same for you and yours.

    Take care Jai x

It's pretty difficult to have a successful hero unless he's got something we can identify with or like about him. Sometimes, with antiheroes, it's just a case of the hero being not quite as dreadful as the antagonists. Some of his examples of antiheroes are the characters in Pulp Fiction, who redeem themselves by being funny, and Lara Croft, who he thinks is a cold fish. I just like her cause she's cool and kicks a*s just like a guy. (shelfari won't let me type a*s)

In a screenplay/movie, you must have the hero play a scene where he does a good deed, like save the cat (I've also heard it called the "pat the puppy" scene) -- it can redeem even an unlikeable or anti-hero.

Thanks for your advice on "M" is for Malice. Yours is the same conclusion I was coming to: read this one and if I like it, start from scratch at the beginning. But talk about a long series!!

She's about 5 1/2. This photo doesn't capture her big blue eyes very well! She's got extremely soft fur.

Thank you so much! She'll be pleased to hear it. Actually what doesn't come across in pictures is her goofy personality. She's not as glamorous as she looks . . . she acts all shy, then rolls around on her back like a puppy, waiting for her tummy to be rubbed. And she squeaks! What a nut.

Hello. Thanks for your friendship request. Sorry it took so long to respond, but I was out of town. I took a peek at your shelf, and yes, we do have a lot in common. I also see Outlander on your favorites shelf. I love Diana Gabaldon. I just heard the 7th and final book in the series is out this month. I'll let you know when I get to it. When I see Pride & Prejudice on ones favorites shelf, I just know we will get along splendidly ! I just finished Alice's Adventures last night for AA's selection. Looking forward to reading the discussions tomorrow !
