Generally speaking, I enjoy starting books more than finishing them. I don't think it is the book's fault. I have left classics such as Ben-Hur and Uncle Tom's cabin unfinsihed. Oh well, I made it to the end of Green Eggs and Ham. I have loved reading since I was a young girl on my Grandma's lap reading Squirrel Nutkin. My love of books only... more »

Hello, Elsmarado. I’m the author of The Sandal Maker, a new book about a journey of an elderly Jewish man and his daughter with glimpses into the public ministry of Jesus from a unique point of view. It’s a story that will take you on a fascinating journey in first century Galilee. You can read reviews at Amazon.com. I’m including here the publisher's notes. Let me know what you think.

    Book Description:
In 70 A.D., a father and daughter risk their lives traveling through a war torn, Galilean countryside on a mission to reach Jerusalem, a fascinating journey that will change their destinies forever. Caleb, an elderly Jew, leaves the safety of his home in Cana on a mission to find a man he believes is in Jerusalem. Miriam, Caleb's only remaining child, accompanies him disguised as a boy. In the desolation of the war struck Galilean countryside, father and daughter risk their lives to journey south on the Jordan River trail. As they walk, Caleb intrigues Miriam with a captivating story of his youth that will change her future destiny. A story of a time forty years prior when he became a sandal maker in order to observe a man some called the Miracle Worker. Caleb secretly kept notes of the events he saw and heard as he followed the crowds. With his objective, skeptical point of view, he reveals the fascinating ministry of the one he called the "Master." Heart pounding perils and the threat of death endanger the two travelers, but nothing could foretell the fate awaiting them in Jerusalem!

Hi Elizabeth, Thanks for the recommendation of "Good Morning, Holy Spirit" by Benny Hinn. I have read this and I enjoyed it very much. Maybe I need to read it again. i think it's one of those books a person keeps, and re-reads every few years.

    Hello,
I enjoyed "Into the Wild." For me it was a marvelous adventure and thought provoking. If you enjoy quests for self and testing the limits, it is well worth you time. The movie was good also, but as with most stories, the book is better yet.

Hi Elsmarado, I haven't heard from you for a long time. I'm glad to hear you are doing well. I saw on your shelf that you are planning to read "The Shack"; you will have to let me know what you think of it. There is a lot of controversy around here about it, but I did read it a few weeks ago, when I was in Minnesota. I guess we need to remember that it is fiction. Say "HI" to Titus, and stay in touch. Love, Auntie Sharon

    Good Morning,
I see you have a James Patterson book on your plans to read list. I want to read that one as well. Have you read any other by Patterson? I am reading his Women's Murder Club series (there are 7 inall) and they are very good. I am soon to start the 4th one.

Hi Elizabeth! We are doing well at the lake. It has been a beautiful fall! Thank you for having us for brownies and thank you for inviting us back. We might just have to take you up on that. I have been reading homeschooling books lately. Nothing too interesting. Although, we have been reading the Narnia series as a family in the evenings and we "LOVE" it! Hope you are doing well. Keep up the good work at the home front.
