I am currently the librarian at a nonprofit organization in Washington, DC. I read a lot of post-apocalyptic fiction. I'm unofficially participating in the Zombies reading challenge for this year, so expect to see a bunch of zombie books on my shelf.

I loved all of the vintage found photographs in this book, and some of them are super creepy

This book had such potential, but after reading it I'm left feeling very annoyed. I expect a certain amount of repetition from a book in a series just to catch up the readers who don't start with the first book. However, there was no need to mention in EVERY chapter that Buffy was a traitor. No need to constantly repeat the thing with the Coke and the bike and Shaun explaining how George is a voice in his head. We got it the first time.

*spoiler* Also, I always read George and Shaun's relationship as being incredibly co-dependent. But after reading other Goodreads reviews it seems that the author confirmed the two were sleeping together. That's just creepy.

Finally, casting Shaun as the narrator of this book was a misstep. I care about what happens to every character except him, and he's the main protagonist. That's a problem. George was a more compelling narrator, and it seems that the author agrees given the ending of Deadline.

My teenage self would have over-identified with the protagonist of this novel.

The stories themselves aren't particularly interesting; however, the woodcuts are gorgeous.

What a weird little short story collection.

Clearly inspired by The Sound and the Fury

It was better than Rebel Angels, but still desperately needed a good editor. I feel like SFT rehashed a lot of the issues and situations from the first two books so I ended up skimming a lot of the text because I had read it before.

Completely ridiculous. The heroines take way too long to figure things out, ignore obvious warning signs, and they never learn from their mistakes. Despite all of this, I'm still going to read the third one.

Fascinating account of the behind-the-scene machinations of the Office of the Vice President (Cheney, Addington, Libby, and others). My only criticism is that Gellman quotes too often from Lynne Cheney's novel.

Like no other YA novel I've read.
