    The One Minute Manager

This is a good one to reread from time to time. I like it for several reasons. It's short and too the point. It's simple. It's told in story form which is a great communication tool. All managers and employees should read this.

    A Discovery of Witches

I could not put this book down. I picked it up because it was on sale and a lot of people had read it. The history was included in the story so you never felt lectured to. Of course the witches, vampires and daemons were an interesting group to read about and of course the whole forbidden love was just icing on the cake. I truly enjoyed this story and can't wait to read the next one.

What a wonderful book. Do animals think and if so about what? This book attempts to answer that question. Virginia Morell travels the world to talk to various scientists about animals. Do ants teach, can rats giggle, do dolphins have gangs etc. As she states in the introduction if you have a pet you are not surprised that the science is slowly proving that all species of animals actually do think. Still it was amazing to read about the various experiments and meet the many animals and the personalities that Morell discusses. A must read for all animal lovers.

It says this is the last book in Sookie Stackhouse series, i felt kind of sad saying goodbye to the characters in Bon Temps. Sookie had several love interests in this series, but i was really rooting for one character and hoping that she will end up with him - and i was right. I can understand that the excitement i felt reading the first 5 books were different from these last books in the series, predictability of the plot has seeped in. Although the book didn't have a spectacular ending, i still enjoyed reading it.

    Defending Jacob

Great plot! Jacob is 14 years old accused of murder, his father the Asst. District Attorney and his mother did their best to defend him. Is there really a "murder gene" ? I found the ending emotionally disturbing. Great book!

After the death of her dear friend Elizabeth, Kate is given Elizabeth's journals. She begins reading them and learns that Elizabeth was not the perfect wife, mother, woman that Kate assumed she was. As we learn about Elizabeth's life via her journals we also learn about Kate's life as a wife and mother and the demons she is fighting as well. Thought provoking with just enough mystery to keep you guessing up until the end. A good read.

An epic tale about a man who made a mistake which followed him for the rest of his life, and yet he spent the rest of his life trying to become a better man. Hugo tells the story of Jean Valjean, a convict who went to prison for stealing food and ended up serving nineteen years. When he is paroled he meets a Bishop who changes his life and he walks away from his parole and tries to start over. Along his life journey to redemption Jean Valjean meets many people good and bad. From the tragic Fantine to his beloved Cossette we we lives shattered and rebuilt in post Napolean France. Long at 1222 pages, it was so worth the time to read it.
