Elisabeth M

In case you haven't noticed by looking at my bookshelf, I love to read.
Everything.
Even the backs of shampoo bottles.
Rinse. Repeat. Reread.

Also, my favorite website about books besides this one is :
www.fantasticfiction.co.uk
Why? Because it breaks down all books in a series by any given author in order.

Reading the books and watching the TV series is a great idea. I've found I like some of the plot points in the manga better, but, like I said, the music just can't be replicated on the page.

Hi, Elisabeth! You asked me about La Corda d'Oro. I am enjoying it, but I have to admit, I'd seen the anime first on www.crunchyroll.com and loved the anime. I think I prefer the anime simply because the story is about music, and I find that manga as a visual medium loses something where music is concerned. I just got v. 8-11 in the mail, and I'm planning to read them this week.

    Hello Elisabeth,

thanks for the add. Seems we have a lot of reading habits in common (books, comics, manga). I also discovered fantastic fiction a while back and I agree it's a great site, but sometimes the new books from series are not categorised yet (arghh)

I wish you a lot of happy reading (seems you're TBR list is also very long)

I try to avoid reading a lot books at the same time, even though it is tempting to start the newly obtained one each time. The four books I have in my Reading Now are just the one I haven’t finished reading. In reality I am reading only one right now. It would be useful to have a separate section for books that people started reading but dropped it.
I hope you don’t mind that I added you to Friends.=)

I want to read those books during the summer too. Though I am not sure it is the best choice to take to the beach. =) The mood is kind of different. =) There is one other vamp book I want to read, The Blue Bloods. I just love everything about vampires!

So you also read manga. Where do you mainly take it from? Stores or online?

Have not read Blue Wave. I like his Easy Rawlins mysteries. I'm not a big short story fan but would consider giving Mosely a try. Here's one for you: Fangland. It's an interesting twist on the vampire theme. I found the beginning a bit rocky and there are some distracting elements but it was worth persiting.

Hey Elisabeth! I've been surfing shelfari and noticed that you are reading the same book i do. So how do you like Vampire Academy? I just started it. I haven't had a lot of expectation toward this book, but so far it seems pretty good. By the way I like your diversity in book styles.

Moore is very funny. I like Walter Mosely a lot but not a big fan of short stories in general. They're over too quickly.

Hi Elisabeth M! I thoroughly enjoy Sayers' works. She's very literate, and clever. I think that you would also enjoy her. Have fun.

Haven't tried that one. My first Gibson was Pattern Recognition. Lots of semiotics. If you are into vampires have you tried Christopher Moore Bloodsucking Fiends and the sequel You Suck? He's taking the piss out of the vampire genre. Quite funny.

Looking at your shelf, you might like William Gibson. Similar dark themes. Avoid Difference Engine.
Also try The End of Mr Y (Scarlett Thomas) and The Wave (Walter Mosely)
