“Don't judge a book by its cover (or narrator.) I remember when I first picked up this book in a store I had no intention of reading it. It looked like chick-lit. However, THREE friends raved enough baout this book that I felt I had to give it a chance. Boy am I glad that I did. This is NOT chick lit. This is an amazing story about being female, being adolescent, and socioeconomics in modern America. It's a Catcher the Rye for a modern girl. It's not afeel-good happy book. It's often very raw and the narrator, Lee, is brutal in her observations of her prep school classmates. If your looking for Jennifer Weiner (who is great in her own right) this is probably not the book for you. But if you're looking for an excellent ,coming-of-age contemporary literature, then read Prep today. (This book was selected as a top 10 NYTimes notable books of 2005.)”
