I was a public school teacher in the South Bronx for two years. At this job I read to escape my tired life. I also read many children's books to and for my 5th graders. Then I went to law school and worked in the Family Courts in NYC. I took a few months off to live in the Outer Banks, then I moved back to NYC and worked in the Criminal... more »

Nice review of Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet. Now that you mention it I think I felt the same about Keiko and would have liked more.

Another good memoir done in graphic format is Maus by Art Spiegelman. It deals with the author's relationship with his father and his father's history. Haunted me for days.

Hi Megan. I see you read (and liked) The Forgotten Garden. I love Kate Morton. I have her first book Riverton House. It was excellent also. If you would like to read it, I can bring it to Vermont when I go in Sep. Let me know!

Thanks Megan. I've told Denise about our book club. She may join. I'm really enjoying discussing books with her. This is something new for us. We shared our thoughts all the way through the Twilight Saga, and last night while I was visiting her we watched the movie. It was a fun evening. We're both in love with Edward! We're planning to see the second movie with 3-4 others when it comes out in November.

I am really learning to love Shelfari. Still trying to navigate around in it and hoping this message gets to you. I left one for your Mom the other day, but I don't know what happened to it! I will surely run questions by you. Thanks for the offer.

I will have to check out that book. Thank you for the recommendation! I've heard the Bookthief is good and also a "young reader". I loved all four of the Twilight books. The first was my favorite (I think I didn't want them to end, so the last one was hard for me. Although I did like the ending!). I did see the Twilight movie. I really liked it! Tom, my husband, went with me and he enjoyed it. He hasn't read any of the books and was pleased with the movie. I read all the Harry Potter books because Tom loved them. He is a fanatic for the movies, so I wanted to read the books before I saw the movies. The next movie is supposed to be out this summer. I'm reading the Art of Racing in the Rain and am liking it. I've heard from a co-worker that An Inconvenient Wife is really good. So, that may be one of my next books.

Oh my goodness, did I like them!!!! I loved them. I had a hard time doing anything besides read them. I'm a sucker for romance-especially teenage romance. They are such great reads! Especially the first one!

I am really loving The Private Patient by P.D. James. I believe you would like it also. It is a British mystery with really good words and phrasing. Have you read her before? I just learned she is 80 years old. Awesome, no? It is available to you soon you know. Love...
