I am an elementary school teacher/librarian (more commonly known as a media specialist). I love to read children's literature but am also an avid reader of adult fiction and non fiction. I have been happily married to a science fiction reader for 24 years and have 2 daughters, one in college and one graduating from high school this May.
I have added most of the books I have read for the last 12 years. I began keeping a reading journal about then. There are a few books on my shelf that I read many years ago and could remember their titles. I have been an avid reader all my life.
I have also included many of my favorite children's books and recent reads. It would take me forever to add all the childrens books I have read but I have included that ones that I really like or use a lot in my teaching.
My ratings are based on how much I liked the book. Even if it is best selling book I may only give it 2 stars because it just didn't appeal to me. And I may give a book 5 stars to a book that is not as well written as another but I really enjoyed the story or message the author was trying to convey. So there will probably be some of my ratings that you agree with and some that you think I am way off.
My shelf is a work in progress as I keep adding titles, ratings, opinions and even deleting some.
** I have recently added books to "My Reading List" shelf. These are books that I going to read or am currently reading. Most of them are children's lit books that I am reading for school. I try to read lots new books during the summer break so that I can recommend them to my students and faculty.
