“I tend to have a low attention span when it comes to long books, and although I put this one down any number of times, I read the last 300 or so pages madly. I love this book's simple narration paired with its (at times) chaotic plot. Murakami beautifully illustrates the seemingly mundane life of Toru Okada and his equally mundane wife, Kumiko. Underlying, however, is a strange tension that makes itself apparent as the character's actions become increasingly off-beat. Toru finds himself caught between the "real world" and the world in his dreams, the lines of which are constantly overlapping. I wouldn't recommend this book to everybody, but if you like Murakami's other books, please read it (and actually finish it!). ”
