    Nigger : An Autobiography

    by Dick Gregory
    • Rated 4 stars

Believe it or not, I read this book in the 7th grade and was glued to the pages. Mr. Gregory's perseverence during a time of political and racial unrest was sometimes devastating, sometimes unbelievable, and always inspiring. The direct hits on his life and near misses described in this book will make you look at your own life and struggles through new eyes!

I listened to this book on tape and there were times when I couldn't even get out of my car because I was so intrigued by this story. I so hoped that they would find Harvey but the ending was so dramatically ironic that somehow it seemed perfect.

    Baring It All

    by Gena L. Garrison
    • Rated 4 stars

Murder, Sex, Lust, Intrigue, Romance, and surprisingly, God, dominate the pages of Baring It All, the heart stopping novel by newcomer Gena L. Garrison. Gena takes her readers into the steamy world of exotic dancing as she tells the story of Marissa, a beautiful stripper who falls in love with Travis, a handsome, but married minister. While some may take issue with Ms. Garrison’s depiction of an African –American minister falling into the very sins he preaches against, I applaud her for expertly handling the subject matter while still being respectful to the church. Although some dialogue and sexual situations depicted in the book may offend some readers, those who can actually accept the truth in her writing until the very end will understand that there is an irreplaceable message in every single line. No matter what you have said, done, or felt...you will always have a home with God.
