Earl

Thanks for visiting our family library, where the noblest works reflect our love for our Lord and His bride, the Church. As an editor, I've included books on writing and literature, as effective writing begins with judicious reading. A book's appearance does not imply endorsement. As Fr DePauw would say, "to quote is not always to agree."

I've actually used it for several years and just applied it here. I did computer programming (not very well) and learned the ASCII tables that controls alphabetization. So that's where I learned to trick.

Earl, Your new avatar has brought back many memories...and also has raised a question. When I was in the primary grades, we always wrote JMJ with a little + at the top of all our papers (Jesus, Mary, and Joseph). As we moved into the middle school years, we switched to DMEO (Deus Meus et Omnia). At some point (high school?), I also remember AMDG...but can't recall what it meant. Bet you can help me out!

Hey, thanks for the note! Yes, I love Orthodoxy; it's one of my favorites. I haven't gotten far into the Imitation of Christ, yet. I'm reading it for school, but I'm sure I'll like it.

At Assumption, I had Franciscans--and they were strict! At Immaculate Heart Academy (the diocesan high school), I had the Sisters of St. Joseph of Peace. At Immaculata College (now University, in PA), I had the Immaculate Heart of Mary order. Times really have changed. I don't think any of the three still has a majority of nuns on its faculty.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend, with lots of time for family and reading.

Earl, Have you ever come across a series of books called Six O'Clock Saints? They were collections of short bios written for children. I about wore out the copies from our "grammar" school library (Assumption School in Emerson, NJ) and would love to track them down again.

    Hi Earl,
Thank you for adding me as a friend. I look forward to many lively exchanges!

PS: Although it has been years, I've been to lovely Berkeley Springs. Back in the mid-70s, I lived in Charleston, WV, and later visited during my days as an "itinerant" quilt teacher.

    Hello Earl!

Thank you so much for your nice message. You do write beautifully and must be a gifted editor! Have you considered publishing some of your own work? I would certainly buy it!

Best wishes for a cool, sunny day!

Hi Earl, thank you so much for your help and for putting a good word for our club. It is very thoughtful of you , I really appreciate your kindness and dedication to the group. If you have the time, would you consider being our co- admin for the Bibliophile group? I need all the help I can get. I have often been tempted to ask you to be our co-admin as I think you have lived a very rich and interesting life. You seem to have so many stories to tell that I hope you can share with us. Thank you again, Silvana
