I will give "new york" a try, but I heard the worst about the prince of dublins so I did not bother buying it. Have you read "night watch" by sarah waters ? It seems great...btw, I have seldom been disappointed by a booker prize author, so waters, byatt and so on are good bets!

That book is actually on my wish list. I saw that it was shortlisted for the booker prize and I suppose this is something I'd like very much. Definitely on my "to read"-list! Thanks!
