I've always been a little crazy, never think that could be my big imagination.
When I find myself reading a book, it's like I'm on another world, I laugh, I cry, get pissed, and feel everything the caracters feel.
.

I love the BDB Series from JR Ward, and the Dark Hunters from Sherrilyn Kenyon.
Wrath and Ash are my favorites.

    Hello Idylla!
Why on earth are you apologizing?! Do I not answer late all the time because I am caught up in school/books/whatever? And even when I am writing back a reply, I get distracted all too easily… Just take your time, whenever. :-)

First off, belated happy birthday!! I hope you had an amazing time with tons of chocolates and presents, despite it being on the same day as Mother’s Day. LOL
My birthday is on April 4. And last year it fell on Easter Sunday. Imagine my dismay, despite it being an extremely auspicious day!

Ooo… You’re painting your room red? Wow! Scary! LoL
And I totally understand the chaos that ensues when one’s moving or when the house is getting renovated. The noise and the “lost” items are the worst.

Portuguese is very much like Spanish, right? El/ella over there instead of ele/ela. ** bulb lights over my head with ping!**

Mmm… Hot geeks! Lucky you!! :-D Were they like Roarke and McNab? If you don’t know who they are and if you like reading crime fic, please oh please read the “in Death” series by J.D. Robb (who is actually Nora Roberts).

Porn shoes, eh? Niiiice! Do you put them to good use? ;-)

My god! If you really love winter all that much, please come and live here for a whole season and that’ll perhaps cure you of this strange fascination. People over here, including moi, can’t wait for the days with temperatures above 25 degrees!! It’s coming…soon!!

I’m not much into sports nowadays. Used to watch football (that’d be soccer) and cricket ardently with my father but now I mostly don’t have the time and interest, except during the major world cups and Euro cups. I’ve not yet gotten into the hype of typical North American team sports yet… But I get your point. :-P

Yea… Lots of people who’ve met me can’t tell I’m Indian, either! I’ve been asked by complete strangers as to whether or not I’m Spanish, much to my Chilean best friend’s anguish. LOL

DH is undoubtedly one of my favourite series, too, but Sherrilyn Kenyon seriously needs to change up her characters’ characters (lol) because her plots are great.
Ah! You read Devyn Kell’s story (Born of Ice, I believe) but you must read his father’s and Nykirian’s stories. They are even better, in my opinion.

Uneven was really good but I was hoping for a teeny tiny bit of mushiness. I like it that way if the story’s good.

Anne Rice’s Beauty trilogy isn’t creepy… at least not in my opinion. It was more heady and addictive, if you know what I mean. Do read them soon because those books are amazing!

Unfortunately I haven’t read anything by Brynn Paulin, Jasmine Hayes or Cherise Sinclair. Seems like only the first two are worth it but I have no idea where to find these books without them showing up on my credit card statement, which my parents would kill me for. **sigh**
I’ll cross Cherise Sinclair off the list then. Hey, most people liked Twilight, too. I, personally thought all the books were crappy and couldn’t get into the fad because the main character was shallow, empty and super dumb. But I did read them just so I could boldly state that I hate them and have read better books even while stupid girls vowed there could be none better. **gag**
I earnestly hope you are not a Twilight fan.

I just finished reading Naamah’s Curse by Jacqueline Carey. It’s the second book in the Naamah trilogy and I really liked it. I won’t tell anything just in case you want to read them for yourself. It’s sad that Carey won’t make it to the mainstream market because of the many controversial subjects in her books but she is a story teller through and through, epic stories, that is.
I also read Breaking the Rules by Suzanne Brockmann, another of my favourite writers. She is also J.R. Ward’s fav. WARDen says in the BDB Insider’s Guide (I think) that she fell into Suzanne Brockmann’s arms and started crying the first time they met. Aww, right? I wonder what I would do if I met my favourite author… Probably the same. Lol
Anyhow, about the book, it’s the latest in Suz Brockmann’s Troubleshooters series and it is the story of one of my favourite characters but it was so very frustrating at times that I wanted to reach into the book and grab some of them and shake them until their teeth rattled.
Sometimes I just get too excited and involved while reading. **ahem**
But now that the book is done, I am sad because this was purportedly the last book in the series and I want MORE!! :’(

I love the Scots and the good folks of the emerald isle, too!!! Sooo hot!!! Which reminds me, I found this hilarious Scotch commercial on YouTube a couple of days back and I’ll send it to you if you give me your email id. I’ll send you mine as a private message.

I really like the Fallen Angels series, not as much as BDB of course, but I really like it because it reminds me of Supernatural, which I looooove! Do you watch Supernatural? If yes, who’d you prefer, Sam of Dean? I love both of them but I’d take Sammy any day.
Veck is an interesting character I want to find out more about in Envy and I, too, felt disappointed that José had finally given up on Butch but I also thought it through logically that what would be the use of José finding Butch ever, right? They live worlds apart, metaphorically, and Butch is much happier now.

If you like long haired men, you are going to love the men in Laurell K. Hamilton’s books… ;-)

It’s sad that people don’t understand Phury. He is so good and selfless, apart from the carving up lessers bit, of course. lol

Right now I am listening to Within Temptation’s latest album, The Unforgiving. It’s amazing!! I am in operatic metal heaven now… :-P

So, I just now YouTube-d Kostas Martakis and listened to “Anatropi”. I have no idea what he said but he’s gorgeous!!!! **drool**
    Do you understand Greek?

I like different sorts of accents, too. But I love the English, Irish and Scottish accents!!!

Ahhh! So, you’re one of those people who sleeps around, eh? lmao!!! Just joking… XD

    Hugs and kisses,
    Priya

    Hello Idylla!

I am very well, thank you. I think that I’m finally slowly realizing that summer vacation is here and there’s no rush. LOL

Why isn’t Shelfari a ‘her’? Why must it be a he? **turning up my little feminist nose** I’m just pulling your leg; I’m not really a feminist. :-P
I recently made up a Goodreads account but I’m not there as often as I am here. I added you!! :-D

My God! Once again you are the only one to recognize my avi for what it truly represents — Rhage!! Congrats! LOL

Thank you for sharing your “pretty little life” with me. :-) Sad to hear you were fired from a job you actually liked. Politicians suck! So, you’re a computer expert! I suck at anything tech related, so I’m calling you up whenever I have a problem! LOL
I love heels, too!! Albeit, not the crazy super uncomfortable shoes. I like comfy shoes with a max of 3 inches in heels. I detest tennis shoes, too. But sneaks are o-kay. Unfortunately they have to be because it’s so bloody cold here more than half the year… I wish I could wear sandals all year round. **sigh**
And I love eating, too! Although, I won’t eat everything – my food MUST have taste and I don’t eat beef and pork because of religious and personal preferences. Other than that, we mostly eat Indian food at home because my mum’s an amazing cook and well, I am Indian! Bet you couldn’t tell that! :-D
My parents emigrated from there quite a few years ago because my dad was bored and tired of his job and wanted some ‘adventure’. And here we are! **eye-roll** I love it here but I miss India, especially during the never ending winter!
If you really love winter, do visit Canada during one of ours and that’ll hopefully make you rethink disliking summer. If you’re like most of us here, you’ll want to escape after a few bouts of freezing rain. LOL If you’re not a mad hockey/skiing/sledging/winter sports fan come here during summer. It’s gorgeous! Well, I’ll grudgingly admit that snowy nights are also quite beautiful, as long as you don’t have to get up and go to work/school after shovelling the driveway and cleaning off the car. That really really sucks, let me tell you. And who doesn’t want a hot body to curl up against? ;-)

Ohh! Your birthday is in May! When?! I’m an April baby… :-P

Yes, SK is undoubtedly one of the best writers and Acheron was the best but have you noticed that all her characters have the same personality? Be it Ash, Nick, Kyrian, Aimee, Amanda, Fang, Dev or Stryker… They are all sarcastic all the time! It is hilarious but there isn’t any diversity… :-(
Nevertheless, I’m providing you the encouragement to read the Chronicles of Nick. Infinity and Invincible were simply amazing. I love the sweet innocent Nick!! And it doesn’t feel like a YA book except that profanity is at a minimum and most of the swear words are altered and of course there’s no sex. She wrote these books for her sons, after all!
The Belador series, not so much. I didn’t personally like the first book that’s out.
Have you read any of the books from the BAD series? Now those are GOOD! I loved them!
And oh oh let’s not forget the League series! I love that too! The first book was the best, in my opinion.

So, about The Assignment. It’s not very realistic. It’s more like a gay man’s fantasy book because two straight as a ruler cops who were best friends in the first place decide (umm…not so much, you’ll get this if you read the book) to take their friendship to the next level…physical. I liked it because the characters were hot and the sex scenes were hotter and the story had potential… You can think up alternate storylines with the characters given.
About the With and Without series, I read the third one first. And I LOVED it! It had an actual plotline and the characters were likeable. So, naturally I wanted to know more about the characters mentioned in the other books in the series. So, I sort of like them, too. but it’s the third book that I liked best.
I checked out Uneven by Anah Crow. I searched for it and found it. I was intrigued. I read it. I loved it! :-D
That’s why the delay in answering you… I wanted to finish reading it first! You have good taste, my friend!
What I loved about Uneven is that it is so realistic and very well written. It made me understand a character from a book by my favourite author, Laurell K. Hamilton. More about her later.
It was also quite unique in the sense that the Dom is the younger man while the Sub is the much older one. More often than not it is the other way round, and that becomes boring, doesn’t it?
And oh, Uneven is sooo not heavy compared to the Sleeping Beauty series by Anne Rice! Trust me on this one. If you are any kind of BD-SM fan, which I would wager you are, you must read that series! It’s the very best and there’s nothing like it. It is a fantasy which is fantastic! LOL There’s every kind of scenario and you need to read it to understand.

I must check out Cherise Sinclair and Jasmine Haynes then. Haven’t had the chance yet… And you need not fear a spanking from me…everything is consensual here! lmao

I have heard of Maya Banks but have never read anything by her yet. OMG! I cannot stop laughing at ‘Brothers McSomething’!!! That is beyond hilarious and yet so true!! The highlanders are always Mac- or Mc- somethings… :-P And the covers of those books are always soooo HOT!! **phew**
You very well might like Jacqueline Carey’s Kushiel series because S&M is involved. ;-)

You succinctly expressed my own feelings for Lover Unleashed and all I am going to add to that is that it was unsatisfactory. It felt more like a filler story of hodgepodge characters than an actual book. And I want the Qhuay story like yesterday!!! It isn’t fair how she’s making them wait!! And you are so right about Tohr… what’s the point of HEA if he gains a new lifemate within a year of Wellsie’s death? I mean I want him happy and all but this is waaaaaay too soon! And it’s not fair to the woman (probably No’One), either because he is so going to be thinking of Wellsie every now and then, or he should!
At this moment I am looking forward to Envy, the third novel in her Fallen Angels series. It’s the story of the detective with the serial killer father in Lover Unleashed. Have you read Covet and Crave?
So, Wrath is your favourite brother, eh? I love them all but for some reason I am a little partial to Phury, even though he seems to be the unpopular one because of his addictions.

Oh, I love music, too!! Just not while I’m reading… and don’t think I only like Classical all the time! No oh no! Bach and Vivaldi need their rest, too. LOL
I love Nickelback, myself! I like many of their songs but “Just to Get High” is my favourite. It’s so haunting, touching and depicts reality so well. My favourite band is Within Temptation, though! I love[/] all of their songs!! I also love Nightwish and Evanescence…
My mum loves Michael Bublé. I like him, too, but not everything. Btw, he’s Canadian, too! :-P
I like some of the songs by Maroon 5, too! My favourite of theirs would be “She will be Loved”.
Other than these, I pretty much listen to whatever is on the radio and change the stations if something I don’t like comes on…
I’m sorry to say but I detest country music! Sorry! I don’t like the annoying accent (b/c they’re usually sung by the people from the American south west **cough, cough**), the music, the lyrics of loving and drinking and losing and then loving again. It’s just annoying to me. Again, I’m sorry. But country music in your language (Portuguese?) might be a whole new experience, so I am not commenting on that because I know nothing about it.
Each to their own, right? I don’t expect you to love operatic metal any more than me liking country…

Ohh!! So, it’s good to know that I am not the only one who writes their notes out in MS Word and then copy/pastes!! I even look at the word count! **ahem** And this is close to 1,500 words! Ack! :-P

    Hugs and kisses,

    Hello Idylla!

    How are you?

It’s been a while since I’ve come on Shelfari, read interesting books and basically had a life outside of school. I just finished my exams and now am free for the summer!!!! Yippee!!!! :-P
If it isn’t too intrusive, what is it that you do? Are you in school or do you work or… I just love knowing about people in other countries –how they live, dress, work, eat, everything! Sorry. **sheepish**

Trust me, being hot is better than freezing, as it here for the better part of the year…
Thank God, it’s warming up finally!

I believe we’ve already established that monosyllabic people are extremely dreary and neither one of us are that, thankfully! :-D

Guess, I never mentioned that Sherrilyn Kenyon’s one of my favourite authors… I love her writing style, her characters, her humour, pretty much everything! LOL And Acheron is simply the very best. I, myself have read “Acheron” quite a few times and want to read it again…after I’ve finished a some new books… only a couple of days back I read the second book in the Chronicles of Nick series –“Invincible” and liked it very much! I read “Infinity” a while back and loved that one. Have you read these books yet? I, also read the first book in her and Dianna Love’s new Belador series. Unfortunately, it doesn’t quite match up. But then after “Acheron”, nothing else is of par.

Oooo… Homoerotic fiction!! Me, likey! LOL
I read a few of those recently. Two of the better ones were “The Assignment” by Evangeline Anderson and the books in the “With or Without” series by J.L. Langley. You could check those out if you’re bored or are looking for something light to read. I have the book on my comp, so if you can’t find them, just ask! :-)

Hmm… I haven’t read any BD-SM books lately… Have to look through my collection to see if I can find anything decent. Any suggestions?

About the historicals… I don’t like spineless heroines who are virgins and are blindly in love, either. Gah! That leaves an utter distaste on my tongue but not all historicals are like that… I happen to LOVE the Kushiels’ series by Jacqueline Carey because it is so absolutely radical. Have you had a chance to check them out yet? Then another author I used to like is Teresa Medeiros. The past tense is because I haven’t read her books in over a year… But I imagine I will like them if I re-read some of the books. And oh! A couple of Emma Holly’s historicals are fantabulous!!! Well, they are erotica. LMAO

I’ve never heard of Penny Jordan. From your disgust, I probably don’t want to read any of her works, either… **grin**

And oh! I just recently read “Loved Unleashed”!! Have you read it yet? It was pretty good…well, because it had lots of V and Butch… :-P Payne and Manny’s story was ehh ok, in my opinion. Let me know what you think!

I prefer absolute silence when I am reading something good… I don’t want to be distracted by music. :-) That’s why I often read in the middle of the night! LOL But if I am caught listening to music while reading, it’ll be classical. Yep, I am a fan. Sorry.
What about you? Do like music while reading?

Hey Idylla! It's been a while since I even came on Shelfari. Probably close to a month...
    So, how's it going?

You really don't like Historicals, eh? Or, is it just the sappy historical romances? I have to admit, albeit they are not my favourites by any shot, they are quick, easy and sometimes fun reads. :-)
And then there are amazing (according to moi :-P) fantastical historicals (lol) like the Kushiel's Legacy series by Jacqueline Carey. If you are wanting to read something fresh and different, I would strongly recommend those books.

Ah! The Breeds series... I read only a couple and not in order. They were alright, nothing defining about them at all in my opinion.
I haven't heard of Susan Mallery. I shall check her out...

Wow, a BD-SM fan, are you? ;-) I am, too. But after I read Anne Rice's Sleeping Beauty trilogy, nothing else compares... If you haven't already read those three books, you MUST!

btw, you don't talk too much. I like it. I mean, if you talked in monosyllables like many people, not only would be make an extremely dull friendship but what on earth would I reply back?
And it means a lot that you don't mind me answering late... So, thank you!

I'm sorry about the delay in responding. School started and I'm swamped once again. It seems as if I have no time to breathe any longer. I hope you don't mind...

What is normal, anyway? And if there was a hard-and-fast definition, I am certain I wouldn't fit into it... So, no worries. :-P

You are the only one who guessed that it was Butch and V right away... So, congrats! LOL

So, read anything good off late?
