dyanny

Hi I am a licensed practical nurse, who works to support my reading habit. I read just about anything, but my first love is mystery. The pug is Murphy the center of our home since the kids have grown up. He is a year and a half old and likes to sit in my chair while I read outloud. He has heard a lot of mysteries.

    Hi there,

I'm new to Shelfari and need friends. It's pretty lonely over here.

I read romance, women's fiction, fantasy and erotica.

    Friend me?

I've been reading an anthology of local writers. We have an organization here that holds workshops for people who would not have access to writing then at the end of the workshop they publish an anthology. Its a fabulous program - the writing is amazing considering the writers are prisoners, addicts, people dying of cancer and AIDS. I'm almost done. Great stuff. I'm also in the middle of a how to book on magazine writing called Telling True Stories - its on essay and memoir writing.

I see you have "And Ladies of the Club" on your reading list. I love that book and read it every 10 years or so...but am most amazed at what I heard about the author (hope it is true) but she was supposedly 80 when she wrote this (her 1st book). Amazing!

I also just finished Phillipa Gregory's The Other Boleyn Girl," and am now reading "The Constant Princess," by her also and "Daughter of the Game," by Tracy Grant.

I too am a writer. I am presently working on a novel that stems from the third story in my first work, a set of interconnected short stories set in Oakland, CA where I live.

You're welcome. I'm glad we have the same authors in common. I read mystery/thrillers mostly. I read some historical and romance too.

Hi! You seem to have the same taste in books as I do. I noticed my favorite authors on your shelf. (especially Michner) It inspired me to add more books to my shelf that I've read. I'd rather read. It also told me some authors I should try. Thanks!

Hey, what are you reading these days? Have you gotten to Smith's 'Blue Shoes' yet? I've liked his others (in the same series), but some were better than others.

OMG...you have a Kindle...(I saw it in one of your messages. I want one so badly. I was considering one of the Sony Readers...but I have a Macbook..and its not compatible. I don't want to have to use my business PC for pleasure. Please let me know how you like the Kindle. I have my name down for one...they are still "temporarily out of stock".
