Yeah, I loved how the animals could talk... I liked the big cow things, as well as in the swamp how the foxes imitate the squirrels. For dystopia/action, I liked The Hunger Games better but I still might recommend this.

Oh yes, that was the worst part. I hate it when they kill off the dog! The thing is, you can so often see it coming too... when there's a dog, and it's like someone's only friend in the world, it's going to die.

I think the ending would have been better if Haven still existed, and then maybe it wouldn't need a sequel. That part just gave me a headache too... they run away from Aaron, he catches up, it takes forever for him to finally die, then they run into Prentiss Jr., then into him again and he shoots Viola; then they finally think they've reached safety and the whole town is abandoned. I thought it was just too much.

I agree that there seemed to be a desire to fight. That's part of the reason I wanted to calm things down. I know it comes across as surrender but sometimes an apology takes away the very thing a combative person came for.

I hear you. I don't want to alienate any of the members but I completely agree with your position. I felt particularly bad because I held out hope for the Twilight series to the end. I was reading the potential story rather than the story in front of me. I was willing to forgive so much for the chance that Bella would wake up. Imagine how great that would be if she didn't become a vampire and told both boys to take a flying leap! What if she learned to respect herself and Meyer had the intelligence to recognize the audience she had captured and their need to do the same? Oh well........silly me.

No worries! I'm glad you're enjoying the group (and it was nice to see the reference and the link to the Coraline Unshelved comic! Maybe a few non-librarians will check out Unshelved, too!). :-)

Hi! I'm from the Author Author group and just wanted to welcome you to our group. You've already been posting to the threads so I'm sure you know what's going on in the group, but here's the info anyway. :-)

As you might already know, January's "featured" author is Neil Gaiman, and we have two "secondary" authors, Ursula Le Guin and Terry Pratchett. If you're interested, you can choose a book written by one of these three authors, and after you've read it, please come post a review and star rating so the rest of us in the group know what you read and whether you liked it or not. Happy Reading!

I hear you. I find myself having to make a conscious effort to pick up meatier, adult titles. I enjoy them, but there is so much YA that provides enjoyment and new resources for me to share with teens that I tend to choose it first. What's cool about Author!Author! and Play Book Tag(same admin) is that the tag/focus is chosen but what book you actually read is left to you. Peace. ~zawadi

I too am an artist. In the most flimsy form of the word. I knit, crochet, quilt by hand and with the machine, sew things, and am OBSESSED with make-up. I wanted to be a Hollywood make-up artist. "A dream is a wish your heart makes." Quoted by????? An easy one here.

    I dig red wine too.

Hi. I left you a note over in YA about _Persepolis_, but I wasn't sure you'd see it so here I am.
I just checked out the link you posted for the movie. Have you seen the movie? When you mentioned it, I thought you meant they'd made a live-action film of the book. I was surprised and glad to see it animated. Thanks for the tip.
