Dr. J. G.

Dr. J. G.

Addicted to reading since shortly after age of three. Didn't read that much during those intense few years that occurr before graduating. Lived in many parts of the world. Some had really good public libraries, some good bookshops, some both and more. The shelf here shows what I can find on these pages - or remember names of. During the last... more »

Thanks for your note. The picture was taken in NY while visiting my husband's daughter in Hampton Bays. I always have to stop at nurseries for my fix. Smile.

Thank you for your note. It was necessary for me to have my surgery because it was affecting my eyesight. It went well and everything is fine.

I do use classical music to relax at night. I enjoy Vivaldi's peices, especially. Beethoven's symphonies are also incredible. I have listened to Mozart's music, but it does not relax me in the ways that other composers do. I love to dance to Vivaldi's music because of its layers. I can dance to the same peice time and time again and never dance in the same way twice. My favorite by him is, "The Four Seasons: Summer." There is more to the title but I cannot remember it precisely. The steady use of repetition allows me to follow it with my feet without tripping on my more clumsy days.

This is really off-topic; however, I am extremely excited. I was notified today that a photograph I submitted to a contest will be judged in the state competiton. I was shocked when I won first place for my school, much less my county. Unfortunately, though, I must wait until May to learn if I will go to nationals. All I can do for now is hope and believe in my talents.

I understand what you mean about writing when I feel the flow. I have tried to force it in the past and my stories take a downward plunge. Then I spend time trying to fix the mistakes I made because me thoughts were not in sync. It's just that I become irate when I cannot write whenever I want to. Some people would say to start something new, but my stories and characters influence each other. Actually, I think all parts of my life influence my writing. The books I'm reading can cause wild twist in my stories. I once got an idea for a story because of a song I was listening to. If you think about it, there truthfully is no such thing as an original story. Everything you read and experience affects your writing. There are some experiences you cannot write about them until they become personal. I struggle with that because my world is so sheltered. Well, I must go. It is 11:30 and my dog needs a walk. Thank you, again, for listening to what I have to say.

How have you been lately? I became used to our conversations and have missed them. Your insightful words were always a comfort to me. I meant to write earlier, but I have been so busy with school work that the internet has been last on my list of things to do. I have been continuing with my writing though it is slow going. Have you read anything worth talking about lately? I haven't read anything great recently. I'm trying to get into the reading mood. Please write back to me when you can and tell me how things have been lately.

Hello Dr.J.G .. I am fine. How about you? Hope you are doing good. That was a gud suggestion, but am not too passionate about Chess. :) . I played a little of that game during my college days , but its been years since i had last touched it.
Been busy in preparing for an exam and hence lost touch with books.. One of my frnd pushed me a book and i had no choice but to read it.. :) . Guess will start reading another book only after 3 weeks or so.. Meanwhile collecting some of the books that you suggested... Take care then. Happy Reading.. !
