Dorothea

I am an avid reader, being able to read before starting grade school. I enjoy mysteries, auto-biographies, biographies and novels written by all ethnic groups. I have been a member of two book clubs which is a very rewarding way of sharing your thoughts with others.

Hi, I see you only read one of Kyle Onstott's books. Could you not get into his subject.
As I was scrolling through your books, looking for other books by Onstott, I noticed we have a lot more books in common. By authors that are not on my list, will put after I finish writing this, if I can remember which of the books by these authors I read. Which brings up how everyone here remembers all of the books they've read. I can't remember even half, lol.

Hello, thanks for accepting my friendship.
Not to many people have heard of Richard Stark. His books are very hard to find and are out of print I believe. I guess you would say his writing genre is crime drama.
His mani character, an antihero, is a, to use the popular name, stickup guy. He robbed establishments for a living. Which is why I guess Richard Stark was not very popular, except for fans of crime drama.
But the books are very good. One of them, The Organization I think it was, was made into a movie.
I highly recommend them, if you like crime drama.

I hope you will take the time to view my YouTube book trailer at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-t0K34iU6g. I am doing some research about potential characters to play the lead role in the upcoming movie. Hope you can help me out. As Ralph Eggleston Director/Production Designer of Pixar Animation Studios said,
"I LOVED the book! It's a missing, ENDLESSLY fascinating link to the history of Hollywood. Thank you for researching and writing it!! I hope it's been widely well received, as it deserves to be." Best wishes. Gaelyn

    A Girl Named Job says

Marie Antionette would like to share an excerpt from her book titled A Girl Named Job with you and all of her Shelfair friends...

This is from Chapter 3, Wheres My Daddy...

It took a few seconds for the reality of things to really hit me but once it did I broke down and cried like a wounded dog.I didn’t cry because we’d just gotten robbed. I cried because I though Nana was gonna “whop” my a**! Surely she wasn’t going to believe me, she never does! I knew she was going to put the blame on me. I was the only one in the house and I didn’t do anything to stop him. I could hear her now, "Why didn’t you go run and tell somebody you run ya’ mouth any other time?” “Why didn’t you pick up the phone and call somebody-the police?” My thoughts had me so afraid, that by now the house is filled with my weeps. It was hard for me to hear anything over the sound of my shed tears. I though the ordeal was over, I though Gilly was gone. But as I lift my head an opened my eyes, he was standing right there staring at me like my reflection in the mirror. That F***** Me Up! It felt like witches riding my back. I couldn’t scream, I couldn’t move, I couldn’t yell, I couldn’t blink, I couldn’t do shit! All I could do was sit and stare. I didn’t make one move, but when the nigga’ touched me, WOAH Nelly! Talk about fade to Black! I was gone, I’d completely zoned out. I had no idea what his intentions were and at the same time it felt like my spirit had vacated my body. Gilly didn’t have his hands on me he had his hands on an empty shell. He was saying some thing to me but I couldn’t hear him. His touch numbed my body. I don’t know how long he was in the room with me. I was just relieved as hell when he left. I started crying again...
