  • Jeffrey Gitomer's Little Teal Book of Trust: How to Earn It, Grow It, and Keep It to Become a Trusted Advisor in Sales, Business and Life (Jeffrey Gitomer's Little Books)
    • Rated 4 stars

I think this book will become the "sleeper" hit of Gitomer's Little Book Series. After devouring all the other titles (and colors) in the series, I purchased The Little Teal Book of Trust last and stuck it on my shelf, where it sat unread for months. I should have trusted in the fact Gitomer always creates compelling content, always has a lesson for me to learn, and always delivers (and should have read it sooner!)

The sections on Characteristics of Trusted People and Becoming a Trusted Advisor will be valuable beyond belief for any sales professional or consultant who acts on the information and lives it everyday.

Like one of my favorite Gitomer quotes from the book:
"You cannot buy trust at any price. But slowly, over time, you can build it for free."

  • Crush It!
    • Rated 4 stars

Author Gary Vaynerchuck has walked-the-walk and earned the right to talk-the-talk in his first book focused on building your personal brand and personal wealth by following your passion. I always felt a little 'hokey' admitting to the fact that I love what I do, but with Gary Vee giving his permission to "Crush It!" with the same passion he does -- I don't feel like I'm the only weirdo in the room who doesn't really "need" a vacation. When your work excites and fulfills you -- your vocation IS is a vacation.

  • The shark and the goldfish : positive ways to thrive during waves of change
    • Rated 5 stars

    Phenomenal book!
I'm a little hesitant of the "business fable" books (never really understood the hullabaloo regarding "Who Moved My Cheese") but The Shark and The Goldfish is on my personal list of favorite books of the year. There's nothing outrageously original about the message, but isn't that true of all the universal messages? The story was engaging and the important themes weren't lost in fable. Buy copies of this book for your entire team -- the should sell them in groups (Groupers?) so you can gift them to your entire "school" of Goldfish friends!

Fantastic. As a longtime reader of the author's website, www.GapingVoid.com, it's nice to see his work in print. It doesn't quite capture the raw energy of his online version, but I had to have a "souvenir edition" (as Seth Godin calls it.) This will be an incredible find for those unfamiliar with Hugh MacLeod's work, and nice bookshelf edition for folks who are already fans.

What i like best about this book is that it is merely a START. It's up to the reader to take it to the next level.

Powerful collection of advice and insight that doesn't follow any single line of religious dogma, but instead borrows from all of them to create a universal code of higher wisdom. This is one of those books (like Napoleon Hill's Positive Action Plan: 365 Meditations For Making Each Day a Success) that I will never finish reading -- I'll read it for the rest of my life.

  • The Sales Bible: The Ultimate Sales Resource

The one, the only, the original Gitomer in all his glory! You don't get much better than this updated edition of The Sales Bible -- except of course for the new audio book version read by the 'Gitster' himself.

  • Personal Brilliance: Mastering the Everyday Habits That Create a Lifetime of Success
    • Rated 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book and the fact it made me reevaluate my perception of my own source of creativity. Before I read the book, I would have my curious nature drove my innovation -- but once I learned about the author's four catalysts (Awareness, Curiosity, Focus, and Initiative), I've come to the conclusion that Awareness primarily drives the creation of my ideas.

  • The Back of the Napkin
    • Rated 5 stars

Many's the time I've sketched out an idea on the back of a napkin to better explain a concept -- but this is the first time I've seen someone put so much thought into the process to actually build logical rules and advice to encourage this practice among the masses. Brilliantly done and explained -- wish I'd thought of it first!
