I don't know if I would recommend Outlander to you. Yes, it's a swashbuckler with lots of adventure, but it's also a romance and a fantesy and a historical novel. This is the first book in a series of historical novels that traces the lives of 18th century Jamie Frazier, a highlander, and Claire Randall, a 20th century nurse and wife of an Oxford historian. A bit of time travel and there's no hot and cold running water, but plenty of hot tempered clan rivalry and cold-blooded intregue with Bonnie Prince Charlie looming in the near future. I thought this was a romping good read, but then I'm female and all the females I know who read this book fell in love with Jamie Frazier. You can go online on You Tube and see how others have pictured the main characters, but I wouldn't do that until I'd read the books - all of them.
