“This is the first book I have ever read in which the action (at least in part) takes place on prison hulks. These were ships no longer deemed fully seaworthy which were modified to become floating prisons for French prisoners during the Napoleonic wars. Conditions on these hulks were deplorable....”

I am semi-fascinated with the Regency period to begin with but this setting was the icing on the cake. Lots of fun to be had here as with all the Hawkwood series so far. ”
