Greetings. I clicked on your site because it said we had both read The Fourth Hand by Irving, and I wanted to see if you had read any other Irving. In the process, I see that you have read a great deal of Forsyth. I think he is the best of his genre. I love his books. As for Irving, I thought The Fourth Hand was OK, but I would really recommend A Prayer for Owen Meany. It is without a doubt one of my favorite books of all time.

Sorry, CIA stands for Culinary Institute of America. They also launched a Food and Beverage Institute (FBI). So now they have the CIA and FBI. Seriously!

It's not really educational. More like chronicles of his stay at the CIA jampacked with tons of information about food and lives of chefs he met along the way. Even though I didn't understand a lot of the scientific discussions on food, I still enjoyed it. Maybe you can recommend it to your Home Economics teacher. It might be a good read for the students.

So, The Time Traveller's Wife is a must-read? Will look for it at the library over the weekend. But with just a maximum allowance of 4 books for borrowing -- dad using up 2 (although he initially picked up 3 the last time we were at the library) and 1 lightweight romance reserved for mom (to encourage her to read) -- I have to be careful in choosing the one book left for me since I'm stuck with it for the whole week. Almost done with The Making of a Chef. You might find it interesting. Presents a whole new angle to cooking and confirms that I am a baker, not a cook.

I've read the Constant Princess. It started out slow and I had to trudge my way through until the pace finally picked up. Not sure if I want to read another Gregory book. But I do love Bronte and Austen. Isn't there a movie on Marquis de Sade starring Geoffrey Rush? I see you've been reading more of the Thursday Next series. I'm going to the library tomorrow. I hope I find something worth reading.

Can't believe you actually read those. I can't even stand the movie (don't tell the kids). Anyway, can you recommend some good books you've read recently? I finally subscribed to a membership to a library nearby, which allows me to borrow from any library in Singapore. We're allowed to borrow not just books, but also magazines and audio-visual materials (like cds and dvds!!!). You know my taste. Nothing in the genre of Harry Potter or Twilight. Preferably something with historical or cultural context. Oh, and I would like to read someone who has a wider range of vocabulary. (Did you count how many times the word "chagrin" was used in the Twilight series? Get a Thesaurus, why don't you.) In a bit of a foul mood because I recently finished reading a collection of stories by Gabriel Garcia Marquez and they weren't as good as I thought they would be. What a disappointment!

I hope you will take the time to view my YouTube book trailer at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-t0K34iU6g. I am doing some research about potential characters to play the lead role in the upcoming movie. Hope you can help me out. As Ralph Eggleston Director/Production Designer of Pixar Animation Studios said,
"I LOVED the book! It's a missing, ENDLESSLY fascinating link to the history of Hollywood. Thank you for researching and writing it!! I hope it's been widely well received, as it deserves to be." Best wishes. Gaelyn
