I've loved books my entire life and gravitate towards historical novels and memoirs though I really enjoy books that can make me laugh out loud too! If a book is well written and interesting I can read just about anything and I have no problem stopping in mid chapter if I don't like it. Books drawn from a writer's personal experience also... more »

Loved it. Read it too quickly the first time so I read it again!

This book was selected to be part of a collection at the Smithsonian Institute. Tim McLaughlin travelled the campaign trail interviewing and photographing voters. He teaches at Florida State and is pursuing his MBA in photo journalism.

I love Linda's style of writing. She is such an inspiration and has a wonderful outlook on life. She's a joy to read.

    Shantaram: A Novel

I could have put this book on my favorites after the first few chapters but I waited till the end. I loved this book and I was intrigued by this man. One reviewer said "it makes your life seem mundane." I thought after reading that they had a point! The author does not say this is a memoir but it obviously follows his life so it makes you wonder where the made up parts are if they exist. I will miss reading Shantaram but I'm glad my husband picked it up and was drawn in so I'll be able to discuss the book as he reads it.

This was an all time favorite for both my younger sons. We read it so often that I personalized the story for each of them and would add birthdays and events, some true and some future ones I made up. They loved it and always fell asleep before they had to pick me up in their arms and rock me.

I enjoyed this book and thought the first time author did a wonderful job in piecing her family history together. It was richly done until the last two chapters and I found myself a little disappointed. Still, it was a good read and I loved the fact it was in Cajun Country.

This book is hilarious!! It was one of our favourite read aloud books when they were in 1st and 2nd grades. (I still think it's pretty darn funny.)

This was such a great book and such an interesting/different perspective too. I thought the Tara sequel was lukewarm and was initially concerned about Rhett Butler's People but I wasn't disappointed a bit. I was sad the book ended and hope Mr. McCaig provides this book with a sequel! Well done!

I'm not sure I can finish this book. I found it unbelievable and the main character doesn't seem to have any redeeming qualities that can make me like a murderer. The way the book is written jumps around too much for my taste too. I loved the title and was so looking forward to loving the book but I'm making myself read it and that's just no fun.
