With you it was scrapbooking; with me, it has been knitting. However, I think I am burnt out on it for the time being since I was knitting up a storm for Christmas gifts. Thus, I have returned to a reading phase...enjoy the scrapbooking--I'm sure this is something I will be picking up some day!
Hi! I am finding myself passionately reading once again! I perused your favorites and found some I am most definitely going to have to read, including the children's books. How have you been? It's been such a long time...my son is now 3, and my daughter is almost 18 months. I'm glad to see you remain active on here.
Why are all the notes italic?
I was wondering if you would be my friend. I also love The Unbearable Lightness of Being
Hi Artemis, my visits here are also becoming less and less frequent. I have even given up writing a review for every book I've finished - shame on me!Thanks for your note, I too hope you and your loved ones are well and I wish you a very good 2010 with time for some good reads. I am fine - 5 times a grandmother already (last one born on 22nd December!). Lovely but taking up a lot of time too. I'm always open to reading suggestions - also for children's books! It was nice hearing from you - I'll do my best to keep in touch in the future :-)
It's rare I find someone else who has read "Cereus Blooms at Night." One of my favourite books, and also, perhaps, one of the most heartbreaking.
Greetings! I'm new to Shelfari, but just joined your multicultural children's lit group...I see you're a fan of Nalo Hopkinson--I'm so glad she's so well known outside of Canada (where I'm from). My first picture book, BIRD, came out last fall and we won several honors and awards; I'm trying to get my YA novel, A Wish After Midnight, into young readers' hands, and would appreciate any contact or advice you might have. Trailers for both my books can be found at my blog, www.zettaelliott.wordpress.com--and maybe I'll make one for my memoir, Stranger in the Family, since you like that particular genre. Nice to "meet" you!
Hello ArtemisI am greatful for the friend invite. It would be a pleasure and I hope we get to know each other much better.
Hi there,I have really been just a lurker on Shelfari recently, but thought of you while watching those incredible Jamaican runners this week - truly amazing! I noted the " Black Britain" book on your recent list and have marked it for future investigation - it's a subject I want to read more about.
How are you?? We have to catch up soon. Summer is so busy for us that I don't get as much down time to email and catch up with friends. I hope you are well!
Hi, this link might interest you: http://www.museindia.com/index.asp
He's great! He mostly sleeps through the night now, and since he now simply must grab anything I'm holding, I have slowed down with my reading as well.
How are you doing? Read anything good lately?
Hi, thank you for these leads. I am certain that these authors are not available in India, but I will find a way of getting some of their books. Would they be available in the US you think? V
Hi, Artemis, just wanted to let you know that my pursuit of the CLR James book has hit a few brick walls, but it is still on my list, just a little further back! Lots of "stuff" going on at home just now so reading has been slower but still my refuge. Hope all is well with you.
Hi D. , long time no see! All's well here, have a new grandson (the other son's first). I've just finished Fruit of the Lemon by Andrea Levy - found it in the library . It's a lot simpler in plot and scope than Small Island, but the narrative voice is the same and just as accomplished. I enjoyed it a lot.
All's well in Antics. Maybe this summer we can get a proper group read going.
I went through a purge of sorts and realized I hadn't done the place a bit of good since you invited me on. I'll give it another go.
