Diane

I work in a high school library and LOVE to read. I also spend a lot of time volunteering at my public library. Most conversations I start with people usually begin with "so what are you reading right now?".

Hi there! I'm just dropping by to welcome you to The 100+ Book Challenge. The idea of the group is pretty much self explanatory - try to read 100 or more books in a one year period. If you do have any questions, please feel free to send a message to me or Tenia. In the meantime, good luck reaching your goal!

    Hi Diane,

Welcome to the Minneapolsi-St.Paul-Minnesota group! If you haven't already, please stop by the group and introduce yourself. We'd love to get to know you a little better :-)

And if you haven't noticed, we have a contest/drawing going right now to celebrate the fact that we hit 100 members a few months ago. If you would like to be entered into the drawing, all you have to do is write a review of a book written by a Minnesota author (or one set in Minnesota). There's a thread set up on the group for the reviews. The prizes are $10 gift certificates for book stores - something we all need LOL. The deadline for writing a review is July 31st.

up to page two and still bored...I liked Tai Pan, King Rat, and Nobel House
Shogun I saw on TV, so I don't count it

I saw one book on your shelf that maybe you would like
    Miko by Eric Lustbader
mostly I like the story of the young girl, her flashbacks

Thanks for putting up all your book..so many good ideas
I need to put up more of mine, but some I read so long ago I forget them

PS, I see you are from Minnesota, come join the Minnesota group. We read books with Minnesota in them, books by Minnesota authors and discuss all things Minnesota.

Edgar Sawtalle is our local bookclub pick for July. I am listening to it by audio. I have heard over and over that it is a good book but the ending not so good. That is too bad but I am enjoying the first part. I love this site too. It is pretty amazing. You cn peruse others shelves, that helps trigger memory of books you have read in past. Pick out people who read variety or books similiar to your interest.

    Hello

What did you think of the end of Forever Odd.

I loved the begiinng with all the detail about his town...about the killer tree and especially the cat. I even liked his little scene with Elvis, even though I'm not a big fan of his.

But for me, once he left the town the book went downhill. I often tell people to read thr first half and stop when he leaves the town.

Welcome to 1001 books. You can keep track of the books you have read from the book, 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die here and join in the discussions on the books we are reading for the month (from the book) or you can argue the merits of the list as some enjoy doing. We hope you will want to join in our discussions. The current books are at the top of the list for that month. If there is any way I or Mossflower can answer your questions about the group or about Shelfari, let us know.
If you don’t own the book the list can be found http://www.listology.com/content_show.cfm?content_id=22845. A downloadable list of the second edition is available at http://johnandsheena.co.uk/books/?page_id=160.
