Well...it is a bit complicated to describe myself truly as I am on a journey to self discovery and keep on bumping into new aspects of "ME"...;-)....but regarding books...it is different..when i look back, there has been different phases in my reading...
I was naughty and restless as a child and my mom used to tell me stories to engage me and keep me off my job...;-)..but she wud always leave the story at an interesting point and thrust the picture book on my face and say, "now if u r so much interested in knowing further, y dont u read it urself?" This was how I started reading as a kid. Mom is a book lover and so she was always providing me pocket money to purchase children's magazines and comics. This was my first phase of reading.
The second phase happened when I was in class 3 or 4, when during summer vacation, sitting idly at our Kerala ancestral home (our schools in North India closed for summer vacation from June 1st onwards and by that time the schools in Kerala wud have opened ,and also monsoon wud have arrived), my cousin sister Chitra didi (she is an excellent storyteller and a certified bookworm) introduced me to the world of Frank and Joe Hardy. I loved their adventures and luckily for me, my school, Prabhat Tara, had the full set of Hardy Boys novels, which I and my friend Rohit made our mission to complete.
The third phase happened while I was in Higher Secondary, and was introduced to the adult world of Sydney Sheldon, Mario Puzo, and their ilk.
The fourth phase is the current phase, which started once I came in contact with my dear friend Stephen, whose maniacal reading (hope Steve does not read this;-)), awakened the sleeping reader in me. I feel this is the best phase, as I am equally at ease with all types of books, from children's fiction, comics to adventure, action, romance, classic, spiritual etc...
Hmm....so that was a short description of my acquaintance and renewed friendship with books...Shelfari is a great plateform for people like me and hope I can make a few friends here and share our insights on books....bye for now :-)
