Books have been a refuge and escape for much of my life. More recently (1990's) I shifted to non-fiction when I began gardening and when I had my son. I also love cookbooks! I like trade fiction and I gravitate toward stories with psychological themes; personality disorders, autism, telapathy, schizophrenia, emotional journeys...

    Yes - my avatar is my youngest Golden Retriever. She's two. I've got 4 dogs, and have raised and trained them for more decades than I care to admit to. When I was a kid I checked a book out of the library constantly - about a beagle named Pat. The title is THE DOG WHO CAME TO STAY by Hal Borland. Some time in my 20s I bought a used copy which I treasure to this day.
