I'm a nerd. I grew up reading comics, own my own Superman suit, and not only used to play Dungeons and Dragons, but once actually spent a day running around a park in full constume, hurling spells and twirling swords with about 50 others in a massive nerd-gasm.

Now I pose as a respectable... more »

I haven't read "Until I Find You" yet, it is in my "own" pile. I haven't come across a book by John Irving yet that I haven't liked yet though! If you get to it yet before me let me know how it is.

I love Irving (Widow for 1 year is one of my faves) and Steinbeck (East of Eden-masterpiece!). I'm a native Seattlelite living in midwest. God I miss it.

Well Devin I have to let you know that I have now added a new word to my vocabulary and it is:
    nerd-gasm
I love it and will try to use it in sentences over the next few days
obviously you have a wonderful sense of humor..
I am also an Irving fan (especially his earlier novels)
    Happy reading...

Hi devinher, thanks for the information on Robert Rodriguez's book. He definitely has the passion for the craft of filmmaking. I'll pick it up, thanks. Yup, "Story" is a great book. I've read books on craft of writing but never thought someone could teach the craft of a story. Robert McKee does it and then some. I recommend that book to any writer, regardless the genre.

As for where I am in filmmaking, been playing with screenwriting. I like the craft.

Ah, I see that you have "Story" by Robert McKee (am reading it for the second time in 4 months) and Robert Rodriguez's book. I picked it up in a bookstore but didn't buy it. Would you recommend it?
